Pretty sure if he retired, Canucks would have some recapture to pay.
- Reubenkincade

in case you’re joking.

Wild would for sure, but not any team acquiring him. $30m in cap charge, $10m in salary.

I read 2 conflicting articles on this, 1 says all Wild recapture, the other said it would be a shared recapture.

I will see if I can find the other article.

Recapture is all related to benefiting from the structure of the contract - front loading it. The rules now make it hard for teams to gain too much early. But Parise, Suter and Webber are going to be doozies

Vegas. So we can finally stop hearing how great Joe Sakic is as a GM.

Plus, the further the knights go the more bitter Schmidt will be.

A buddy gave me a fresh Halibut filet last weekend. Beer battered some of it with Guinness. It also helped wash it down. Very tasty pairing. Along with the homemade tartar, fries and malt vinegar.
- Load Management

Best fish/chips I ever had was at Mandalay Bay in Vegas at an Irish pub there called Ri/Ra. Beer battered halibut fresh never frozen and they hand make their tartar sauce right in front of you. The fries were fresh cut from the slicer to the fryer. Unreal. All done right before your eyes. Malt Vinegar and Guinness off the tap man you have brought back a great memory.

I forgot they made some changes to the recapture penalty in the new CBA, so not really sure how it would work out, but they are doozies for sure.
Best off buying out, I would think.

Ya Minny exposed quite a few holes in Vegas' game I can see the Golden Showers fizzling out in the 2nd round. Avs should have this one easy.

No, the only way out for the Wild is play out the contract or skin disorder/back problem/knee problem...

Trading them is definitely the worst thing the Wild can do. That “locks in” the current benefit and if they retire early, wham!

Gillis should never have traded Luongo. He should have traded Lack and fired Tortarella before the outdoor game if he knew that was what was going to happen.

I think you are right on this(for once). Lol
In all fairness to Gillis, who i am not a fan of, this is on Bettman, and the NHLPA, who agreed to this changing of goalposts.

Not sure if I have ever mentioned this on here before, bit on old friend had the same skin disorder as Hossa had. He used to play in an old timers league and was a commercial fisherman, had to retire from both as the disease was causing excruciating pain, whenever he put on or took off hockey gear or even his slicker gear.

lol remember that was a funny time. Torts put Gillis in a tough spot by starting Lack in the outdoor game. Basically Lu's agent called the offices the next morning and demanded a trade from why I heard. Then the jackass Kesler got on board the 'they'll never trade us train' with Lou. Major dissension at that time Torts was just feeling the fire then there was the CGY blowup game lol

As the GM, if Gillis knew that was about to happen he should have fired Torts and either stepped behind the bench himself or promoted the equipment manager for the day. Certainly he should have fired him after the game. He and Gilman knew the consequences of trading Lu. It’s probably why Frankie hired a dum-dum. He got franked on that deal.

I don’t doubt such a thing exists, just very convenient that it started affecting him when it did...

Agree 100%. It was a moment where a big decision needed to be made. Lou was a fu*cking whiner but he deserved to start that game lol. The ripple effect from that game was larger than folks realize.

Yup.
This whole LTIR situation is just a cap circumvention tool that is being abused, as far as I am concerned.

Eff that. I liked Vegas that first year, but they’ve turned into much more of turds and don’t deserve to be as good as they are. They got some pretty dirty players as well

I like the Avs team. Avs in 5

Av's in 6. Vegas sill has a good heavy fast club but the Av's will expose their holes even more than Minny did. Vegas usually fizzles out by the conference finals.

Can you add that he doesn’t like talking in front of people and cameras to the list? It makes him feel self conscious

Seriously, do you think Jim shouldn’t do media availability? Do you think that’s not part of his job?
- 1970vintage

Don’t be such a meanie. Jim’s really concerned about his teenage daughter’s emotional state. I mean, Jim’s half-ass job as GM is taking a toll on the family.
