I agree with you, other than Myers and Schmidt. Schimdt is the better player, allow him to play to his strengths. Myers to SEA

I think keeping OJ is good. He's cost controlled and still has room to improve. For a number 7 that's fine.

- NewYorkNuck

Yeah Schmidt and Myers are a toss up for me because I feel each could be much better depending on their partner. Myers takes dumb penalties but he's not fun to play against down low. I like his size more than Schmidt and I hope Rathbone can be a better, more useful version of NS, making him expendable. Also, maybe Juolevi is the starting piece to pry Cernak. If we go D heavy in the draft this year, plus Woo coming, its buys us some time but we do need more for sure.

I knew as soon as I posted that I was leaving myself wide open for something Kit Kat related.

6'4" 200 lb Podkolzin is a midget?

TB has 5 players under 6' Johnson, Point, Gourde, Coleman, Kucherov

Ya this narrative doesn't reek of much accuracy

Tbay currently have negative 5mil in cap space for next season - on top of dealing with the expansion draft they arnt really dealing from a point of power.
- Brooks_Light

And yet there would still be a bidding war for Cernak.

I just don’t want people whining in here like after the Miller trade. The 30 other GM’s aren’t going to form some friendly alliance and just let Benning get Cernak for under market value. They’ll be fighting over who gets Cernak

He was the other guy I was thinking of besides Cernak. But I think NYI will protect Pelech, Leddy and Pulock, leaving Hickey, Mayfield, Boychuck LTIR?? available and/but they're in cap hell already next year. Not sure how thats gonna turn out.

I just don't think Myers' game is going to age as well as Schmidt's. Add in Schmidt's ability to play left and right, his better defensive acumen and possession ability, and I think he's the one to keep.

Building a trade with OJ being a piece for Cernak is something I'd be fine with. However I think Tampa will want expansion exempt players back in any trade, and OJ doesn't fit that.

As you mentioned earlier about others, he just rode the coattails of better people. Like his defensive pedigree, he's getting exposed =(

Not the same at all. He was Chia’s right hand man in Boston

They did okay on the JTM deal, they were in trouble back then as well.

I still think TB goes 8-1 keeps all 4 defenders. Gets rid of a bigger fwd contract.

How so? I feel it balances out. Schmidt had a down year.

- NewYorkNuck

Schmidt had 1 good season, got a big contract, went back to being an average #4 defenseman that had to be propped up by McNabb, when that failed the Knights had a hard time getting rid of the cap dump.

It'd basically be to gouge the Canucks in their cap situation. I think 8.7 would be easy for the Canucks to match.

A team giving up 4 late first round picks for Petey wouldn't be the worst. He's one of the top young players in the league, only going up.

Don't think it'll happen, just read it elsewhere and thought it'd be a change of discussion for a bit.

Way to be creative,

I don't think Pettersson is worth 4 first, I know this may not be popular, but I would like to see another year of performance and a run into the playoffs to see if he can stay injury free and be a difference maker.

Extremely talented player, but a wee bit early for someone to pay 4 1st.

I’ve been watching the CAR-NSH series and watching Sebastian Aho reminded me a lot of EP. Very similar play style.

If Seattle takes Holtby are you comfortable with Demko/Demingue (type) in a playoffs or bust scenario?

Sure but depending on who else is added.
