Easy now, we aren't as smart as NHL GM's and aren't allowed to criticize them.

As I mentioned recently, this fanbase deserves what they are getting.

My breakdown of a real fan...

Be upfront with constructive criticism
Hysteria has no place
If complaining pose a solution also
Using history is unnecessary
Able to change or modify a stance

Lastly it’s not mandatory for opinions unchanged over time.

Probably more but that’s the gist.

- Nighthawk

Well to me history is necessary cu if you don’t learn from it you’re bound to repeat it. Also, the first part of finding a solution is identifying the problem.

You said that Schmidt was a coward based on him skipping exit meetings. I've asked you several times to provide a source but you haven't.

I'm starting to think you were lying to troll this thread. That doesn't sound like something you would do so that's why I keep asking you for a source. Thanks in advance.

- RealityChecker

Whether he skipped out or not, you can’t deny everyone was certain he’d come in and more than replace Tanev. Even though the Canucks are not my fav team, I still watch a lot of their games and do have interest in the team. He was a disaster in his own end for the first 3rd of the season, he got better but not great. Signed for 4 more years at 6 mil per is not going to go over well, he’ll become the new Myers in here in the next year.

You know Nuckers just messing with you, sarcasm is hard to read sometimes.

Perhaps notable as well: the ever-quotable Nate Schmidt didn't appear last night or today.

- Nucker101

didn't appear where? what does this mean? could he have had a reason? family?

i'm not sure what this tweet is supposed to tell me.

can you tell me how you interpreted the tweet?

is this the only tweet that you based your opinion that "schmidt is a coward quitter" and should be traded for anything more than a cap dump?

this is the sole piece of information that you relied on to form your opinion? and what new information did you receive if you've now changed your opinion? thanks in advance.

True but adding history is so subjective at the time. Learn yes & identify the problem is tantamount in going forward.

- Nucker101

how would you categorize someone who bases a strong opinion eg calling someone a coward based on twitter speculation? is that a real fan or not? would that be: or

i just want to figure out if i should get my pitchfork or not.

Didn’t appear at Canucks facilities to peak to media via Zoom call, every other player did during those 2 days from what I gather. If that tweet is correct and he doesn’t have a good excuse than yes it was a cowardly act. I didn’t change my opinion, but I’m open to saying he’s not a coward or quitter if he did actually show up, I have yet to see any evidence of that though. I can find clips/quotes of all of the other core guys speaking to the media so it’s suspicious.

If he showed up then he’s not a coward. So far there’s more tea leaves that would lead one to believe that he never showed

Problems?

Lack of a 3C that drives a line.
Top RHD the ever search.
Cheap short term depth signings.
Prospects are overdue to impact in the bottom 6.
Special teams the biggest issue.
Front office leadership.

Those are decent point.
We have several Canuck fans on here who try to watch as many Canucks games as possible, and participate in Canucks sites, such as this one, like NY Nuck, golfing and Brooks, I would say they are real fans, as are the fans who have followed the team for decades now through all the ups and downs of this franchise, they to are real fans.

If the GM who is doing the drafting sucks, it wouldn't really matter if he drafted Nylander because Nylander would be golfing right now if he were on the Canucks.
- manvanfan

I’m not really a Nylander fan, nor did I participate in yesterday’s charade. Just thought it was good for a laugh.

And True, if they had drafted Nylander instead of Birtanen they wouldn’t have gotten Petey or Hughes because they would have been cup contenders already.

Draft 1 and develop
Draft 1 and develop
No more cheap signings are needed.
Prospects won't get a chance if you sign a bunch of other players

We’re all on the same side at the end of the day, we want to see the team bring home the cup, it’s sad to see people turning on their fellow fans, especially when it’s on a personal level. It’s just a game and hobby after all for us fans.

The outcome would not change because the the same guy would be doing the drafting and he's the problem.

Butterfly effect means that it’s entirely possible that 1 or even both of those guys aren’t drafted here. Who knows

yup, thanks. this is all that i was asking for.

calling someone a coward based on internet speculation ("from what i gather" and "if that tweet is correct" lol) and then saying that they have to prove that they aren't before you'll change your mind.

this perfectly encapsulates your thinking and how seriously any of us should take your opinions.

thanks. it took a while but we got there.

Interpret it how you want, I see a tweet from a credible reporter and I have yet to find any quotes or video about Schmidt speaking. I’ll gladly eat crow if he actually was there but I guess Canucks social media left him out and no local reporter found his interview interesting enough to post even one quote.

Seems pretty bizarre but hey, if you want to criticize me for reading those tea leaves then that’s fair.

getting the pitchforks out based on twitter speculation seems to be a fun activity for a lot of people out there these days.

seems pretty bizzare but hey, if you want to do it that's fair.
