Not to mention the entire toilet bowl of their second periods, and the fact the last 5 years they're bottom 5 in shots against, scoring chances against, goals against, etc etc

- NewYorkNuck

I think it's hilarious. Defend the coach, defend the GM, defend the players.

So why is the team so bad?

Correlation is not causation.

Not the same bunch at all. And if the fans make the team that much better, maybe they aren't good hockey players? Plus, why didn't other teams have drop offs like the Canucks? Why did the Canucks do so well in the bubble with no fans? Maybe it has nothing to do with fans

- NewYorkNuck

Yeah, that was quite the straw.

I was praying they would take Green or any other team would take the pooptest coach in Canucks history, but that dumbass Benning just screwed the team again.

If I am so confused about systems please explain how the canucks are such a phenomenal team.

Green has had several different players under him over the last 4 years and the results keep getting worse.

Oh that's right I forgot you have a whole bucket full of excuses why Green is so awesome at failing.

Man you just love defending everything Canuck related and calling out others for not blindly loving all things Canuck. You remind me of someone......

Like it or not, he makes brutal coaching decisions and his team seems unprepared most of the time. I didn't even mention the systems you so vehemently defend.

- golfingsince

When you have blind hate it's no wonder objectivity is mistaken for defending. Of course Green makes mistakes but to call execution fails his system is a misnomer.

I don't have blind hate, I call a spade a spade.

It's funny that you're the only guy here that thinks the systems aren't an issue. How much actual hockey have you played ?

I realize that's a pretty lame question but i'm honestly curious as you must have played a ton to know so much more than the rest of us.

Dude it's so blind Stevie Wonder can see it.

Since you haters know so much, how about sending a query to the Canucks? See if they agree with your systems take.

I'm not sure what your expectations are, but people are unrealistic to expect the team to be better in any categories.

Com'on man, the team is rebuilding for those 5 years, the coach has a no responsibility or expectations to improve during a rebuild. FACTS

You know Covid screwed the schedule, oh oh there was also the terrible schedule before the players got covid...damn schedule is to blame both pre and post covid. FACTS.

Also Pettersson got injured, it's surprising the club could even dress a team to play after that injury. FACTS.

Green tried hard to set up complicated systems, but but with Covid and scheduling and Pettersson out what was he do...just getting last place in the division is a HUGE accomplishment. FACTS

Those are FACTS Jack. Who needs excuses when you have undeniable FACTS.

What?? So your excuse now is Green shouldn't be judged on his record because the team is in a rebuild. I don't think I have ever read so many different excuses from one individual in Canucks team history.

Wow, just wow.

I would like to mention that the greatest GM in history (according to Codes) just signed his coach of 5 losing seasons to an extension.

Isn't that like going to the same doctor for a 2nd opinion? Why don't I ask Ray Kroc if MacDonald's makes a good burger.

Thanks for answering with more blind loyalty, I wouldn't expect anything less.

Well I guess that set the precedent for the greatest GM in history (according to manvanfan) to sign his coach to an extension.

Yes I am well aware, I hope that Seattle do sign Quenneville, since 1996 he has only missed the playoffs twice, twice in 25 years, unbelievable record.

But he will never live up to Greens accomplishments in NU mind,

Some facts are more equal than others

I'm trying so hard to find where I saw the stats of the Canucks the past 5 seasons about their shot totals, goals, record, etc. that put them in the last 5 in the league in those categories.

Would have loved to get Q. Watching Florida play is great. The Canucks could be very much like them in a season or two with a proper coach

Q's a great coach. I always laughed when I frequented the Hawks thread and they bashed him constantly.

Penguins on the verge of being eliminated. Looks like they'll be in the market for a goalie this off season. Maybe Holtby for a 3rd after the expansion draft?

Meh, coaches get stale. Viggy is a great coach (not as good as Q), but people bashed him before he was fired.

But we are better off having Green and so fricking fortunate to be last in the division, you know we have facts to fall back on.

I agree, but they bashed Q then he won 2 more cups with them.

But he makes $5.25 mil. Apparently that's too much for FA/JB to pay.

Can coach Q, play 4th line?

No need to ask. The team’s captain already has made his views known.

Maybe in 20 more years of Green coaching, he will catch up to Quenneville. Especially if Benning gives him chances he probably doesn't deserve.
