Fair point, wait until we unleash bilbo aka Goal Caufield!
- Karine Hains

The right lines may well make the difference...
First, don't mess with what works:
Danault Gallagher Tatar
Suzuki Toffoli Perry
KK Bilbo Anderson
Evans/Byron Lehkonen Armia

Don't put line numbers or times on them... Distribute as needs call for.

Forgot to add, after "Line 1"...
Line 2 has a Perry screening two great shots. Use it.
Line 3 KK, despite his great shot, is a passer... Bilbo and Anderson can snipe and rush off the pass.
Line 4 has great defensive potential, and the awareness to breakout and score.

Ok, done.

Honestly though Pat... Do the lines not make sense? Honestly looking for feedback.

gotta say I like the idea of having Caufield play with KK and Anderson... not sure what DD will be going for but the habs were so flat offensively that it would be very very dumb to not have our beloved Bilbo somewhere in there...

Thinking of it similar to football (American). Put up a couple of blockers and let the runner score.
And if that falls, CC has the smarts to send to whoever has the best chance... They'll score plenty from goal mouth tips anyways.

he's one of the rare players on the habs that could make the opponent think twice about their defensive coverage, and who's shot often makes a goalie actually hesitate

I really hope the habs will show up on Monday and (frank) them up as much as possible... I still don't get why the league had to schedule back-to-back playoff games for the series in the North and not for any of the other divisions but whatever
- Pat1993

Probably because of the late starts. Win-Edm did not have game 1 until 19th and Habs-Leafs was a day later. Bruins played 3 games by then.

Why the late start? It's not like the rinks were booked for concerts or anything...

yeah that is also the explanation I was thinking of, but still with all things considered would inserting an extra day of break in there for the North division to have all NHL teams work with the same kind of playoff timeframe have really (frank)ed everything up..?

They want to get this done before the summer olympics, so they are pushing games ASAP in case something drastic happens, like a covid problem or something, that requires rescheduling.

More games done, easier that becomes, if necessary.

Sure.
But why did North series not start until the 19th/20th? All other series were well under way by then.
Was it COVID make-up games that delayed the start? Van-Cal were still finishing up regular season games while playoffs were under way.

Because the MTL and VANC covid scares pushed the North schedule out, compared to others. Until a top 4 was decided, the order they would finish, and all their regular season games finished, they could not finalize a schedule / start playoffs for the North.

I suspect the North team will have a more condensed second round playoff schedule than the US counterparts to catch up, which might be problematic in terms of rest / practice.

Oh I didn’t underestimate Hellebucyk, I’m one of the rare people who predicted that the Jets would make the playoffs in spite of the poor D and because of him....Of course I had predicted the Oilers wouldn’t make them because of goaltending, but you can’t win them all hahaaha

If Smith did not have some wierd unexpected renaissance you would have been right.

And the magic is gone now that the Oilers are in the playoffs. Smith is back to his old style of overplaying some shots, being unfocused on other shots, and constantly waive his arms when he allows a goal.
