What's really sad is that Benning could of had Forsling back twice.

Passed on by many teams and GM’s multiple times

Also didn’t Gudbranson play top 4 minutes for Florida in the playoffs too? Let’s see if Forsling can sustain this.

it's almost as if JB sets an opinion on a player at around his draft age and never lets go of it.

I honestly just think hes too "meat and potatoes" for the league now. Hes old school and the league has evolved so much, while they just aren't evolving with it. Its the reason I think PC and Tallon are gone, and Benning will soon follow (and won't be in the league in any form of management position after).

Forsling hasn't been much of a player, until this season, working under an excellent coach with very good systems. He would become Derrick Poulliot 2.0 with this team.

Need a larger sample size before any deep regrets, if he regresses to a bottom pairing level then that’s no biggie

my point is though, whether we use injuries, gap deals, etc, is that none of these have worked.

Sutter didnt fix anything. Beagle didn't fix anything. Roussel didn't fix anything. Gudbranson arguably made things 50x worse, both when he was acquired and for our future.

I just don't get how you and Lordy can be so sure that Benning "knows" what this team needs now, when he has had 7+ years of trying to acquire and draft the things that we need, and we are 24th overall out of 31 teams in the league.

Quite honestly, I would take a bottom pairing nhl calibre defenseman, because the team has some #4/5 defenseman and a few ahl level defenders and nothing else.

Sutter was a decent 3rd line player. Same with Roussel. Sven was growing with the team until his concussion. Motte is currently growing with the team.

as a 3C, was sutter good at driving the 3rd line? when healthy, was the 3rd line with sutter running well? did he help his linemates?

sven has been concussion free for a long time, why hasn't he given a chance? if it's coaching, what does it say about the coach or player?

as for both sutter and sven, how do you feel about their contracts? and if you're going to say that injuries obscure their value now, are you saying that you have always been in favour of them, even at the time they were signed?

lastly, you say that motte is "growing with the team," does that mean you think he will get better? i ask because i believe he's at peak value and will decline. do you agree or disagree?

hey, last week you mentioned that schmidt was a "coward" (your words) and that you wanted him traded for anything more than a cap dump eg. 7th rounder.

just wanted to know if that's still your opinion? you said you based this on media reports. i haven't really seen anything one way or the other, though i confess i'm not on social media.

can you just give a link as to where you got your info re: schmidt being a coward?

Hope you had a good long weekend!

I watched a lot of hockey, including some World Championships.

So that's where today's blog takes us; I'm wondering if Mikey DiPietro might get into a game for struggling Team Canada?

I later backed off of that statement by adding that if it was true then yeah he’s a coward quitter that I’d move on from. So far I haven’t seen a report that refutes him skipping out on exit meetings, have you?

If Hedman was a bit younger I'd take Hedman
Forgot about Kucherov lol

- Jkuzzi

I agree, Hedman is a gem. I would alway build from the goalie out. Regardless of the quality of your forwards, if you don’t have goaltending and reliable defence then your team won’t achieve poop. Edmonton is the perfect example.

People complain about Crosby whining but Nate is 10 times worse. No thanks.

At the time there was no room as the roster was too deep.

that's why i asked. i actually didn't see any reports that he missed them and wanted to know what you based your very strong opinion on.

i wanted to read the context of the story? or if there was anything more to it?
