He signed for 6X6 when the cap was $75 million, that priced him out of Chicago. Saad is neither an elite playmaker or goal-scorer, but rather a complementary winger. He is perfect for the Av's as he is arguably the 6th-7th best forward on the team. For $3.5-$4 mil (Kubalik's salary), I wouldn't mind Stan resigning him, anything more, let him get paid elsewhere.

I said at the beginning of the season I didn't see Saad hitting over $5 per year next contract and more likely $4.5 or in the $4's and I've always been a Saad guy.

No one is trading a power forward or anything desirable that we need for a pile of average players with average potential. Such as Kurachev.

If you anticipate to speculate on trades, stop thinking teams are going to trade their desirable for our junk heap or so so players. Like teams are lined up and interested. Even when a player has a salary causing salary cap problem

Kurashev who disdains hard checks and disappeared at times. Nice third line and second line fill in usefulness when he wants to play.

And I bet Shulanov would have issues once he is here for a while. Not happy. And or inconsistent play. Those have been his domain

Agreed that trade wouldn't happen in fantasy sports.

Sure. I probably read too much into what they were saying. I don't really care where they are slotted. I was taking issue with the insinuation that these players were average due to their performance in an abbreviated, condensed schedule on a bad team starting 6-8 rookies a night.
- Chunk

Agreed there are 3-4's and then there are better or worse 3-4's. What matters is what they really turn into. One thing about hockey, the great players are usually great pretty fast. Hopefully we can settle for good.

I would like to see Borgstrom and Reichel succeed too, but the overall team D has to improve at some point. Even if Toews is back to 75% of his old self and the new guys contribute, they are still a bubble team and will draft around 12 to 20 next year. That pick and this year's 12th pick will see the UC ice in about 3 or 4 years.
- boilermaker100

Agreed this year's 12th pick is ~3yrs away. That said, how can people be penciling in Reichel getting there in one season as an 18th pick or whatever he was?

Dennis Savard had 79 points as a rookie if memory is correct.

We have had so many fails or not big offensive stars with our #1 going back to the 80's. Not much beside Roenick. So it is exciting to see so many prospects lately. Too bad TT got away.

Beside the Toews drama, I am curious how Keith fares next season. That and what position, what player Bowman snags.

I hope Mitchell improves and some bottom line forwards emerge. Rooting for Soderlund and Barret as i want to see some things they can bring. Morrison? Galvas is ?? Some other forwards too but will the ND kid, Kaiser and Vlasic turn pro. Comesso should stay for a a third year? Because then he is definitely a ways from NHL.

We should trade all our #1's for more #2's. Our scouts are better with #2's and Euro guys.

Because he had a decent year playing against older players in Getmany, some probably think he's ready for the NHL. Also probably some wishful thinking by others hoping he's a sorely needed top 6 forward. Like Scott said earlier probably the Rock for a season for him unless he has an outstanding camp.

I would not count on Toews returning. My bet is its a CTE related issue from repeat concussions. Dont be shocked if he medically retires this summer.
- z1990z

I agree, Toews most likely will retire but not until plenty of season ticket holders have committed. My guess is 1 week before the start of camp opening up. I truly hope , I am wrong.

I think Lukas has a chance he was playing #1 C 2nd half of the season which means he is probably a OK def player and he would be one of the best skaters on the team.
I hope so because he turned 19 this week and if he can be a solid top 9 at 19 maybe he can be a high end player. sounds like he plays a simply speed all around game. guys that try and do to much look bad if they come in to early.

No regulation goals in over a game and a half in the Min-VGK series, then 2 in 18 seconds.
