CBA. Guy

So 2 non playoffs teams can't make trade now
Seem to remember that teams in playoffs need to sign off on it

Right or wrong

- Anderdog

Non COVID years, any team can trade players after the trading deadline, but those players can’t play in playoffs. So they could play regular season games, I believe. Remember back to Kane to Buffalo trade, pretty sure that was after the deadline, but Kane was injured so he did not play. Did Myers play after that? Can’t remember. Or Bogo (doutbt it)?

Sort of.

He said if they were one player away from meeting the NFL vaccination percentage criteria to function without holding socially distanced meetings/practices/etc., he would cut a non vaccinated player so he could function with no restrictions

- jcragcrumple

Like how Ron Wolf came out and said there's a bunch of Divas in the league.

No-trade/No-move Clauses:
All no-trade and no-move clauses will travel with the player in the event of a trade, even if the player is traded before the clause kicks in. This means, if a player is dealt just days before his no-trade or no-move clause begins, the acquiring team cannot wipe out that clause and then trade the player at a later date, unless it does so under the terms of the original no-trade/no-move clause.

This is not what I was talking about but did not know this

- Anderdog

That would be cool
But he wants to live out west

or give skunk one last push before they shove him out the door?

- homiedclown

Did Reinhart do anything off the ice? Serious question. Not sure Eichel did, but not sure.

Good response. His words got twisted and I think he was being honest.

Real question, should he just say he would keep the best players no matter what, or send a message to Bills players that we want normal meeting because this is our window to win and if that means cutting a backup player to improve those chances, he would?

I have no problem with what he said. What he meant was if they were one unvaccinated special teams player away from not holding meetings in the field house where they have to scream over each other, he'd boot one player so the position groups can go back to holding meetings in small groups in individual rooms where they don't have to be socially distanced. It's a competitive advantage to meet the vaccination threshold.

The context of the interview and the question is incredibly important

Should he have said it? No. It probably violates their CBA with the players

Doesn't matter what he wants in this case, it's what the NFL and NFLPA agree on.

If you're a tweener that's not vaccinated, you really don't want to be in the sport, because there are a billion different reasons for you to get cut that are out of your control, there's no reason to add one that is.

"Our labor agreement is pretty clear on what grounds you can and can’t release a player for, and there is not a requirement that players be vaccinated."

That's vague as poop. Just because it's not required doesn't mean a team can't decide to cut you because of it. Just like everything else in the league, if you're good enough, it doesn't matter whether you are or not. But if you're not, get the damn shot.

We might need to slow this down maybe in 3 years It seems like we are trying to force him like we did with Girgensons

That's why the hypotheticals were incredibly silly. We're not talking about Allen and Beasley. We're talking about Tyler Matakevich and Taiwan Jones

Well agree, but know Beane opened up possibilities with his statement. It could opened up lawsuits against the League, especially if your not having certain things during meetings and then you cut a tweener and then you do.

The worst part for the Bills is that it was self-inflicted with Steve Tasker asking the question on state-run (Bills) radio

Beane knew what he was saying. It was a calculated move.

If someone on this team misses an important game because they are anti vaxxers.....

The regular blog is almost up and running. I have a blog in the can and ready to publish but there's still the matter of finalizing the formalities before it can be published under my permanent byline. Thanks again to everyone here for your support in making this happen.

My goal is to put out regular, topical Sabres content and hopefully provide some offbeat stuff. In the not-too-distant future (somewhere in time and space) I could have the opportunity to be closer to the team. In the meantime, there will be plenty to discuss about the team from afar
