I don't know how you evaluate how these guys do their jobs. How do you definitively know whether or not a guy is good or needs to be replaced or upgraded? I think it's an interesting topic.
- TheSabresTaco

Other than what you see and how players react to that coaching I wouldn't know how they approach that.

probably really only a combination of watching them coach and exit interviews with players

powerplay/PK you can kind of directly see results, so that one might be a bit different

i wonder how honest exit interviews are for players behind closed doors. they're a joke for the media everyone loves everyone, but i wonder if like someone would blast an assistant coach behind closed doors

You have to wonder if maybe their systems or structures for ST can be a combo of the head coach and the offensive or defensive coaches.

I think maybe you look at individual development of guys, which is probably why Steve Smith got canned. All our defensemen were heavily regressing. But what if that's a result of Ralph's coaching? It just seems difficult to determine.

Fair to assume if donnie's hired he chooses his assistants?

Gotta think it's some long time friend ('s) within the US hockey organization.

Girardi wasnt a donnie hire?

"Darren Dreger on Twitter: "Don Granato is a primary candidate for the head coaching job with the Sabres. GM, Kevyn Adams has talked to some college coaches to experience the full process. Adams is expected to meet with ownership this week to explain how he intends on moving forward. No rush." / Twitter" https://mobile.twitter.co...amp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet

I am fine with this, Donnie will get a 2 year contract, if you suk A$$ you get launched, if you are the real deal, we will extend you.

Vegas already views Eichel as the missing piece.

Things will really get interesting if Vegas loses again the playoffs due to having trouble putting the puck in the net.

Buffalo would ask for Aho, one of the Carolina defensemen, plus.
- kingcong39

lol get (frank)ed

aho straight up? yeah fine.

Aho and a pick? okay.

Aho AND a defender and a pick? No.

We're not giving you a point-per-game center who kills penalties AND a good defenseman AND more for Eichel. Sorry.

Eichel's great and all but man, the two are separated by 35 points across their entire careers thus far,

Drediger is in the starters net this morning.

But I was out to lunch about Bob’s positioning in Game 1

- Pegullaville

Q has been doing this all season, though. Win and stay in. Even if a goalie played decently in the game that was lost. He likes to keep Driedger involved so he doesn’t go stale from inactivity. I wouldn’t take this as Q blaming or losing all faith in Bob. Idk how to verify/support this with stats (well, maybe I could if I cared enough to pore over the stats) the team for some reason plays tighter D in front of the “backup”. Driedger’s main advantage over Bob, imo, is he doesn’t kick out as many juicy rebounds. Which could support your positioning argument, as he doesn’t kick them out because he’s set and just let’s puck melt into his pads more than Bob does. I would say this is more just Q looking to spark the team to be better defensively, as they gave up too many breakaways last game. Win and stay in.

thank you.

I'm sorry but that's nuts. Aho is the engine that drives the team, and he's missed 4 games due to injury in his career. Eichel joined the league a year earlier but has only played 9 more games.

Eichel is still the more talented player, and has a decent contract, but he's also a bigger risk and swapping out he and Aho has the potential to significantly disrupt team chemistry. Not sure you want to make a move like that at this point wen your contending window has just opened.

And bring in the 2 guys with the gold

Matty beniers and zegras

- gerbe75pts

Eichel for zegras, Manson, Gibson and a 2021 2nd.

Manson would really help develop dahlin.

Gibson can anchor a young team and allow them to make mistakes.

I see that you too have been stripped of hope.
- TheSabresTaco

although it might seem as if i'm fully vested in an existential approach to this franchise, there is hope. Cozens, Mitts and Dahlin represent a good trio moving forward...skunks play post r lph was next level good...the farm system is beginning to fill up with some good prospects and those who made the jump to the nhl look prepared for their roles at this level...and granato looks like a top-notch developmental head coach...

that said, can anyone in their right minds trust any of the pegula's moves?...kevyn adams may work out...how he handles the big three will be a litmus test as will the draft and his free agent acquisitions...

color me skeptical...and happy i don't have to write a blog about those knuckleheads up top and their team on an almost daily basis
