Yeah I didn’t understand it tbh. I’m genuinely asking

sure he could have been better here, but his play did not warrant being the fall guy by any means
- robz228

No he didn't, it's just all the trades TM made in that span shipped out so many pieces that he couldn't put a complete team around him. ROR in my opinion was always a finishing piece not one you get to start a build. IMO that is why it worked so well for St. Louis

I think Zegras is better which makes him more exciting to me.

I don't think it's even close..

To each there own though

- DirtyDan

you certainly could be right.

However, Zegras has the benefit of being 17 months older...which is pretty significant at 18 vs 20.

Zegras had 13 points in 24 NHL games, he didn't play any games as a 18 yo, and few as a 19 yo.
Byfield had 1 point in 6 NHL games

Zegras was a complete monster in the WJ20's

I'd be very, very happy to get either of them.

There are quite a few parallels between O'Reilly's situation when he was traded and Reinhart's situation right now.

its also some sports psychology thing where fans always blame the good players

like of course i'm not going to blame seth griffith or jordan nolan or benoit pouliot for the sabres being bad because those guys aren't supposed to be good

but the guy who's supposed to be good who can't carry his bad team, thats the guy we have to single out

While I agree, I’ll always maintain this situation was a little different

ROR was fantastic his first year here, especially his first 40-50 games.

He slowly got worse, and simultaneously acted like he was upset he was a pro hockey player.

And believe it or not, things weren’t half as bad in 17-18 then they are now. We were still a ton optimistic about the future when Eichel was 21-22 and Reinhart 23.

He stuck out as someone who didn’t fit

I'm in the minority, but I would take a trade centered around the duo of PLD and Andrew Copp from Winnipeg as well.
- kingcong39

Eh. I like PLD and Copp, not sure I want peices that are 4-5 year NHL b
Vets.

Kind of want my main pieces to be super young and in their primes in 2-3 years from now

I kinda like this.

Bryson for Vesalainen

PLD is 22 and Copp is what 25-26, there not old, I am tired of waiting. I really don't get what people expect.

Yah, I'm in the same boat.
Half the fun for me is watching the young kids grow into their potential.
it was really fun to watch Jack...I'd like to do it over again with a nice young core now and a coach who doesn't have his head up his ass.

A blue chip prospect that has potential to be great.

That should be a minimum

We know what PLD is- low caliber 1C, high end 2C and he’s already going to be getting a huge contract coming up.

Absolutely pass on that for me

so I think a framework for Jack is:
*1 Elite level prospect
*1 A-level prospect
*2021 1st or young roster player

what is Sam's trade framework?
* 1 A-level Prospect
* 2021 1st

and what is Risto's?
* no friggin clue ... 2021-1st, probably late or 2021-2nd?

The O'Reilly deal was Grigorenko, Zadorov, Compher, and a 2nd round pick.

I wonder what the equivalent would be today.

Not apples to apples but that’s basically 2 1’s and 2 2’s. McGinn was included

So I’d say the equivalent of two 1sts and a 2nd

I like what Button said on The Instigators today. If you want special you have to give up special. In hindsight that trade didn't go well for the Avs. If memory serves me the rumors were that they wanted Bailey instead of Compher - it could have been even worse for them.

The more I look at 39 trade proposal with Winnipeg, it's not bad, it checks a lot of boxes.

My point was Reinhart may be worth more then some/many may think, especially with his performance at Center this past season.

I had a two day Twitter argument with someone who claimed GMTM was “pretty good”.

Two things I forgot about after the fact - that we never talk about

Murray choosing Compher over Bailey to trade

Murray not taking the Bruins offer of a 1st and prospect for Chris Stewart

This was my Winnipeg trade proposal and my Anaheim one is beneath that.
