Can anyone explain why Rusty was getting gang raped and Matheson just stood there ?
- Bradlee3

So they could keep the faceoff in the offensive zone. Really silly rule, but it happens all the time.

This TB/Florida game is intense. They're pretty much murdering each other already.

No the goalie tried to end his career. To respond the pens passed the puck around way too much on the power play. Then with late frustration Rust dumped s guy on the goalie only to be re introduced immediately to Matt Martin and Rust in true college hockey fashion tucked his tale and ran to the bench.

If the D comes down to jump in, the faceoff goes outside the zone.

Im probably saying nothing that hasnt already been said here... but what a tale of two games for the Penguins. In the first 30 minutes, I thought the Penguins were the better team. They were good at 5 on 5 and were controlling good amounts of the play. In the last 30 minutes, this team looked dead and stale. We kept trying the same thing over and over again and the Islanders were right there waiting. Seems like they got us to play the game they wanted us to and simply waited us out. Our inability to get a 2 goal lead and do something on those powerplays was the difference IMO.

Jarry let up some bad goals and made some good saves. He shouldnt be getting beat from long range like that on wrist shots. Nothing against those Islanders, but your goalie needs to save them

All in all, a disappointing performance. If we keep trying this, it will be another short series. But if we get better goaltending and puck management, I think we will be fine.

Where are all the Murray bashers?
You'd think they'd be here ripping Jarry. But they aren't. O thats right, Jarry didnt force out Fleury, he forced out the guy everyone hated.

Jarry was awful. The other warts aside, if the kid makes saves on shots that any NHL capable goaltender SHOULD stop, the Pens win.

This Lightning/Panthers series is an absolute war.

Hate that Tampa circumvented the cap all year and brought their stars back for the playoffs. Rooting for the Panthers (plus I dont like to see other teams repeat Stanley Cups )

Agree. First 2 periods they were trying to win the game. Last 2 periods they were trying not to lose the game. It was like they never switched gears from protecting the lead. Or they just had no faith in their goalie.

They are. I hope the Pens get through the Islanders so we can watch some wildly entertaining hockey again. Man... The Isle just suck the fun out of hockey. Feel like I'm watching the old Devils.

I give them credit for winning, but I still hate that brand of "paint dry" hockey.

Didn't everyone think we were ready for playoff hockey when we were scoring goals like crazy against Buffalo, Jersey, and Philly?

Anyway, looks like Sullivan has them in playoff mode. Coach Sullivan: "It was a really even game, I think. They are a good team and we are a good team also. We have to learn from this... We're trying to take what the game gives us... We're trying to make adjustments along to the way to give our guys success, today was no different."

Literally everyone blamed Jarry. Except me, I still blame Jack Johnson.

Man o man that Cats and Bolts game last night was insane. I've seen all of the playoff games so far and that one takes the cake. What a war.

Few of us were concerned about Jarry. Next game will show us how much mental fortitude he has. Seems to me he'd have a game like yesterday and rebound well... In the regular season that is... stakes are higher now. We'll see what happens.

It's really a shame about Desmith but I'm not so sure Sully would go with him next game.

Matheson looked rusty and slow. Tanev looked less rusty. Jarry looked bad. He usually has a bounce back after a stinker. Also hope Malkin plays. His absence took away our third line advantage.
