The Pens played defense was fine. Matheson, aside from his one gross mistake, was good. The Pens were good for the most part. Jarry however, was not. He cost the Pens the game.

I'm not so sure about that. If Jarry comes out and pukes on himself with a couple more softies in the next game, then yeah, I could see DeSmith getting a shot. Point is moot however....he's not healthy.

I didnt keep count. Off the top of my head I recall 3 instances of PIT players in their own zone where NYI player came up and took the puck from them with the forwartds in the neutral zone

Pens had 9 turnovers and 7 takeaways. Nothing crazy to see here. Turnovers happen to all teams in every game.

Pens D had TWO bad turnovers, one by Dumo and one by Matheson.

People like to judge based on a result or a few bad plays, and people who do that are generally wrong. Pens had a strong first, good 2nd, bad 3rd and a good 4th.

Jarry was the x-factor. That was it.

The Pens' defense, especially Matheson, looked horrible in that game. Also, while they were not necessarily soft goals Jarry let in some that he should have stopped. If he actually is injured then the Pens are in big trouble.

Different sites use different verbiage. NST says giveaways and takeaways.

The Pens played well. Way more scoring chances, more high quality chances. The Islanders are a good team so nobody can expect them not to push back and have moments where they control the game. Their goalie was better and ours was worse. That's really all it comes down to.

Could the Pens clean up a few things they did this game? Sure, but nothing significant.

Need to come to terms with the fact that Jarry is going to lose them some games. Pens played good enough to win. Hopefully Jarry composes himself and it will still be Pens in 6.

This series is going 6 or 7....Plenty of hockey left for both sides. Mayfield, Greene and
Dobson were giving the puck away like it was Christmas candy
