I’m good with trading Eichel but not Sam.
If anyone on this team was a true blue white & gold patriot it’s Sam Reinhardt. He sacrificed two for the club in my eyes.

Give Sam 8x8. He won’t disappoint, I believe he can be something the Sabres haven’t had in a longtime - a 50 goal scorer.

You trade Sam you set this back to pee wee rebuild.

Hank, good read and thanks for the thought provoking post.
I like your writing style, and appreciate the effort you put into it!

I'm not a fan of any of those trades though.
Vancouver is probably the closest, yet I still think they need to forget Pearson in the deal...as part of my no Cap dump mantra...they can talk to Detroit. Christ we have Skinner, Okposso, Girgs, Eakin already who are useless for their contract. .let's stop building bottom-heavy bottom-feeder teams.

Tkachuk's QO is scary at $9m, I'd decline unless they can reach an agreement for around ~$7.5

I'd peg Sam's value to a 3 or 4 OA draft pick, as that is what his product over the span of his career equates to. So Seattle is in play straight up. Taking on Neal's $5.25m 2 yr contract for redundant Girgs/Bjork, Asplund just significantly devalues it...let Seattle keep him and we get Edmintons 1st rounder which is likely a mid 20's pick...practically a 2nd rounder.

Keep Bork. Mistake if you get rid of him. I’m also liking Reider. We had the best 4th line in the league but we let a piece of it go in Lockport.

The Flames aren’t trading Tkachuk for Reinhart. No way. And I’m not sure the Sabres would want Tkachuk because he has to be qualified at $9 mill once his current contract expires.

The conditions were getting pretty out of hand. Not sad to see that one go.
- Lunaion

It was a good move to get rid of that as the league thought it was a bit of a bottleneck for trades taking place due to every team wanting unending conditions on picks.

I'm conjuring up how they can pry PLD out of The Peg. Heard on XM Radio they want to get more physical on D...so

Sam
Risto
Mitts

For

PLD
Broissoit
Kristian Vesalainen

Wouldn’t 22/23 unprotected 1st round picks bring more value in an 23/9/55 trade(s) than 21?

If the Sabres are moving these players it’s a 2/3 year plan before they really compete, they should be piling up those 2 years 1st rn picks for the best chance at Bedard/Michkov.

Edmonton (had to keep this all in the west) trades James Neal and their 2021 1st round pick to the Seattle Kraken for future considerations.

That's what I would be asking, any 1st would be for next year's draft, and any other pick would be for this year. We'll let me rephrase unless that 1st is top 7 this year.

You could be right. I’m not sold on that kind of money but he could hit 50 one year

Your hired!
I like this quite a bit, in fact it is the best one yet IMO.

The D group is very, very good...a really nice mix of O and D on each pairing, and those combination are mixed across L to R for the 3 pairings.

G passes the smell test too. Ullmark's contract might be low though...but w/e.

F group is young, exciting, fast and talented. I wonder if PLD and Skinner would gel so Skinner is reasonably productive again (i.e. 25Gs)

One consideration, if Olo is the 13th, I am ALL for including him in the trade with Jack. I think KA could sell his PP production with Jack enough to get teams to bite...hell, hold say $1m if need be... would love to increase the value enough to get that Kristian Vesalainen kid out of Winnipeg...that kid is a beast. Would bring much needed physicality to the F group, and at 21 with some games played in the AHL and now NHL he should be ready to pop.

When you Accept the other Associate GM position, please get the to hire The Don...he would be perfect for a team full of youngins with speed and talent!

Sam had a rather impressive year for the Sabres at a perfect time given that he is disgruntled enough to have to consider whether he wants to stay.

He is 25 with 6 years of history to say rather convincingly that he isn't going to hit 50G's...
30? Maybe.

That said, he is still finding ways to grow his productivity each year, but he has proven he is pretty much a 60 - 70 pt producer, and can do so now at center.

There is value, good value in that.
For once, I hope the Sabres brass gets their collective head out of their ass and leverages players in trades while at their high point, rather than selling low.

Trade Eichel, Sam, Olo and Risto...profit.

here's my offer for Eichel:

Filip Chytil
Pavel Buchnevich
Sabres Choice: Nils Lundkvist or Braden Schneider
NYR 2021 first round pick (likely 15th overall)
Sabres 2021 3rd round pick returned

Lundkvist could be perfect defense partner for Dahlin the rest of the decade

Depends on who you are trading with.
Jack is a very strong impact player immediately adding wins. Bubble teams today, probably become playoff teams and therefore their picks would be mnon-lottery picks next year.

In Kong's proposed trade, Winnipeg is and remains a playoff team and by adding Jack may be able to pull off a series or two wins..making that '22 draft pick in the ~mid-20's.
You aren't getting "generational" talent in that range.

Now, if it were Anaheim...I would agree to roll the dice and hope the purge of Eichel and Sam both release the curse from tanking on this franchise

Not a bad offer
3 nhl players immediately
But to get a top 10 center in league
Gonna have to hurt a little bit more

The Rangers are not good trade partners unless they are willing to give up something of true quality.
