Because people keep wanting to throw the kids under the bus. Yes, a lot of them sucked this year but the leadership has been atrocious for years - Fopa21
no one threw them under the bus. they were part of why the season was so disappointing. questioning the leadership group is fine, people will agree with you there. but if you're seriously saying giroux isn't a good hockey player, and you're not trolling, you should watch a different sport. |

If you were expecting big things from freak'n NAK, or Patrick (coming off a missed season due to concussions) or Lindblom (coming back from bone cancer), then you are a bigger idiot than I thought!
At every big moment in games this year, AV rolled out his veteran core players (Ghost, Provorov, G, Jake, Hayes and JVR) and they failed miserably. Overall Farabee might have exceeded expectations of some, Sanheim and TK might have disappointed, but make no mistake, it was the veteran core that let this team down this year! - jd250
So, how come so many matched or significantly bettered their stats from last year? |

TK and Provy let me down, they played like crap. I don't buy the provy needs a good partner narrative. You could say everyone would play better with a better partner. His partner doesn't cause him to make horrible passes or whiff on a pass.

It actually does, but you know...sports, not your thing...If you don't have a partner you can trust you over think the game, play becomes more mechanical and you lack trust...it just snowballs from there...that is why it is a team sport and so hard to win...you need everyone on the same page to make it work...rotating or weaker linemates do significant damage to that... |

Exactly my point all you care about is stats. What about hustle, effort, heart not getting destroyed 9-0. You just like to look up at the end of season & see point totals without any context |

Well, i guess ever player that makes a bad pass can blame their partner them. No one is accountable I guess.

You don’t expect these guys to not get points when they play 18-22 minutes a night, first line pp, ot etc. Raffl once scored 20 goals playing first line minutes. They have the opportunity so of course they will get points but it has nothing to do about a successful season or not. Yikes |

1 more data point against Eichel (2 already discussed are his surprisingly low ES production rate, and his injury).
Taylor Hall, who was very disappointing while on lines with Eichel, is a transformed player playing with Krejcki. He has 14 points in 16 games, and since he came aboard and gave the Bruins a legit 2nd line finally, they are 11-4-1. |

I’d rather focus our assets on landing Jones than Eichel but I’d still gladly take Eichel on this team. He’s an upgrade over just about everyone. |

Nothing changed from last year in that context. If you consider their season disappointing, it is because they are disappointing players. There is no evidence of underachievement for most of the vet forwards.

Im not arguing with your opinion, but to me the only regular player that didn't underacheive is Farabee. Thats it. Everyone else underachieved. And our record is reflecting of that |

What do you think of OS-ing Makar if we manage to shed one of Jake/JVR? In this age, he will get maybe 8 tops from Avs. We offer him 10.5 for 7. Colorado has a major cap crunch looming. Mackinnon will be up in 2 years. Landeskog soon. They have Byram in the pipeline. If Makar signs (and not signing would be leaving 10 mil + over the duration) and Avs match they would have to shed significant pieces to retain Makar. If they do though, no harm done. |

Problem is, there is no evidence of that at all.
A team record is indicative of 20+ players. Else, we should not even think of trading for Eichel/Jones. |

It’s scary that people aren’t seeing that. Maybe it’s not their fault maybe they don’t watch the games |

When a team is failing, one tends to look for saviors. If they are not around, one tends to look for scapegoats. When a team is winning, one tends to look for heroes.
What your eyes are providing you is evidence all right, but it is evidence of such bias. |

You can make stats paint any kind of picture you want. They shouldnt be discounted, but i place the eye test as the most important, then cherry pick stats to prove my point lol

I rely on my eye test. Last year, i thought we were awesome before the break. Then not so much in the playoffs even though we were winning, we weren't playing well. But i would've been mad at chuck if he made big moves because i thought the team was in a great place. So, i don't blame chuck. Thought sandhiem and meyers would've improved enough to make up for the lost of niskanen.......was I ever wrong. Thought provy might've taken a step forward, not backwards. ....Now, I have no idea what to think of the youngster, maybe they wont improve much more at all, its not like they are 19yrs old, and chuck needs to do something. At least play tougher.
