The way you make it sound, youd think G begged to be the Captain, and now you blame him for not being a good captain. Whos your recommendation to wear the C and A's? - bradster
who cares what his recommendations are? the fact that he said he isn't a good hockey player makes him clueless. he has no idea what he's talking about.

I’ve said it before I don’t blame G for being given the C. It’s organizational failure. & there is no one currently on this roster that should be a captain which again goes back to organization failure. I don’t blame G for being the C but it’s apparent the job doesn’t fit him & it’s time for a change

Good hockey players don’t go over half the season without getting a point. It just means he doesn’t show up in over half the games go 5 or 6 games in a row workout a point then will get 3 points in one game

Not really a head scratcher. Kevin Hayes was a UFA and was signed by the Flyers on the open market. NMC was probably a requirement for him to sign with any team.
Unless you are referring to the question of signing Hayes altogether, which is a valid criticism. In my opinion, it was a move made by Fletcher because he was forced to by Dave Scott. Resources are to be maximized for a playoff push. Signing a Kevin Hayes doesn't move the needle enough for me to push the team to the cap. - StepfordSam
Hayes never hit the open market, tho. He signed his deal in June.
Would some other team have been willing to match 7x7+NMC AND be a place that Hayes wanted to go? Duchene got 7x8 w/o a NMC and he's (was) a better player than Hayes. Pavelski got a NMC but only signed for 3-years. So hard to say.
Maybe the Flyers were negotiating against themselves again, like they did on Bryz and Amac.

since he came into the league he's 8th in points. bad hockey player.
oh i forgot, we can't use stats as our argument, just speculate on how bad a leader he is when we have no clue.
Those of you who are awarding Couturier, Giroux, Voracek and JVR grades less than in the A range, is it because you are judging them relative to absolute standards or what they can individually produce?
If the latter, may I humbly suggest that there is overwhelming evidence you are misguided? Couturier was on track on roughly match his career best. JVR was on track to exceed it. Giroux and Voracek were on track for about the same stats as last year.
In fact, compared to last year, here is how they stack up this year:
Couturier: much better ppg, much better ES possession stats.
Voracek: ppg much better, ES possession stats about the same
JVR: much better ppg, much better ES possession stats
Roo: slightly better ppg, much better ES possession stats.
A data set that has 50+ games over 2 seasons for 4 players is not "part of reality." Gentlemen, I am afraid it is all of it. If you consider these players to have had B seasons, I am afraid it is because they are B players.
Who even are these Canadian players? The defense? Our two best players were Canadian in G and Coots. - ClaudeFather

Then why do you keep roasting him for not being good enough to wear the C?

I should add: no injuries, no youth factor. Players are all mid career or late career. This is who they are.
Patrick Lindblom sanheim Myers TK NAK were all such great contributors this year , we weren’t counting on them to do well or anything. - ClaudeFather
If you were expecting big things from freak'n NAK, or Patrick (coming off a missed season due to concussions) or Lindblom (coming back from bone cancer), then you are a bigger idiot than I thought!
At every big moment in games this year, AV rolled out his veteran core players (Ghost, Provorov, G, Jake, Hayes and JVR) and they failed miserably. Overall Farabee might have exceeded expectations of some, Sanheim and TK might have disappointed, but make no mistake, it was the veteran core that let this team down this year!
