That was a bad game for G, but he also had a few good games. Overall he is not the player he once was, and we have to reset our expectations. This is just another reason G should give up the 'C'.

Even more 22 games with only recording 0 or 1 shot on goal. How do you play 18-22 minutes a night and not record a shot on net? He isn’t physical, doesn’t play defense so what is he bringing to the table those 20+ games???? Oh right he’s awesome at faceoffs 👏

If you had any knowledge you could see that the biggest thing outside of the crap defensive play of the team which definitely affected the goaltending was the younger players. Majority of the older guys did their part outside of Hayes, please watch some games and try to comprehend what’s going on.

Right but the teams this organization has fielded hasn’t for the last decade. Up & down. 10 game loosing streaks. 10 game winning streaks. Make the playoffs. Miss the playoffs. Everyone always says it starts at the top & ever since the late great Ed Snider left us it’s been a dumpster fire no accountability want GM’s fired & they have been, coaches fired & they have been but G is where it starts in the other players eyes certainly the 22 year olds eyes. I can guarantee you not one 22 year old is looking to comcast for leadership or examples to follow they are looking at their inconsistent captain & therefore they play inconsistently

What a stupid statement this is! Ovechkin is coming off 3 straight seasons with 49, 51 and 48 goals, and this year he scored 24 goals in only 45 games! He is scoring as much now than he ever has, that is why some, including Jim Jackson, believe he is the greatest goal scorer the NHL has ever seen!

Ovechkin shows up competes his nutsss off. He doesn’t score but you notice him in all aspects of the game. If G isn’t scoring you only notice him at the faceoff dot

Giroux's captaincy seems to be in question and we've had all sorts of different C's over the years, What is it you (posters on this page) think we need, a hard/tough guy in your face Captain, someone who leads by example and just goes out and plays his heart out (Jason Smith type) etc.. Roo does not call out his own, he treats his teammates like teammates, and leave the rest to the coaches Not sure if that's a bad thing?
