Ironically, as I've been looking at whether Scheifele might be a reasonable target for 2C, an answer for us at 3C could be about-to-be free agent Andrew Copp.
Big guy, good on faceoffs, looks like he could be figuring out the offense. Could make Chytil quite tradeable rather than moving Strome.

Commenters on the Jets board here seem to think he might welcome a return to the USA. He would solidify a middle of Mika, Strome, Copp, Rooney/Barron.

He would cost an extra million or so above Chytil, but a number of people around here might consider that fair payment for winning the odd faceoff.

I like Copp a lot. However Im not sure of Im ready to pencil the guy in as the 2C on the PP after having a career year in a crazy season playing agains arguably the worst teams/competition in the NHL.

Someones gonna over pay, bring him to a difficult division and be really annoyed that the offense was fools gold.

I mentioned it before but Im willing to, in a big trade for a C, keep Strome but play him on the RW. You could essentially play Panarin-Zib-Strome on a line together at even strength. The money has to be right though. His price tag will in all likelihood be more expensive than Buch.

You obsess about this 2PP center spot WAY too much. I didn't say put him in that spot. I dont care about that spot.
He's a bigger, stronger guy who's good on faceoffs and would deepen us down the middle. I would call it an improvement.
That was my thinking here.

D, in my mind, are the bigger issue on the second unit.

This is where teams with a "Power Kill" will try to exploit your second unit. They use strong offensive players as the second PK unit to try and catch the other team off guard in transition and create chances. Mobile defenders on the second unit are more important than whoever is plying in the bumper spot or around the net, IMO.

I didn't say that. I don't really care about a center for the 2min a night 2nd PP. I'm thinking more about toughness, OVERALL center depth and face-offs. More pressing matters, imo.

I get it, but Im not using the scoring uptick hes had this year as a basis for wanting to sign him. His numbers are going to mean hes gonna get overpaid by someone which is why I dont want to be on the hook for a one season blip.

His blip in offensive numbers and solid defensive skills means he will likely get a contract in the range of 4.5m to 5m, I dont want it. You can use Cirelli’s extension as a comparible. Thats too much for us. For a 3C its gotta be max around 3.5m.

Adam Lowry is the guy Id go after if I was targeting a C from WPG. Hes under contract and its a nice deal. Hes huge, physical and good on faceoffs.

Kreider, Lowry, Greenway as a 3rd line… line of pain…

If it wasnt for political correctness, Id call it the Black & Blue line.
