Where is the flaw in that factual statement?

G is one dimensional

The only thing one dimensional here is your repetitive opinion.

I await the onrush of guffaws........
It may not be my inability to discern a joke that is the basis for this misunderstanding. It may be that you don't appreciate your lack of 'funny'.
Let me help, 'rat-a-tat-crash'.
Is that an aerial battle? No, it's the drum accent from the band!
Use this in your comedy career. That way everyone will be more aware of your humorous side and be cued to laugh, prior to rolling on the floor.
If I were your father, kid, I assure you it was an accident. One I apparently favored forgetting.
That's a snide aside masquerading as 'good. clean fun'.
To further inform you, since you didn't catch the drift (complete phrase usage, try it) I plead that you ignore me.

TENOR does have more than a musical definition but WTH, that wasn't the worse pun I'll see today.

Sure they do. I’ve never said he shouldn’t be in the league but to be a good hockey player you have to be more than just 100 points unless you’re okay with sexy numbers being the benchmark. He was good offensively. That has regressed obviously with age which is to be expected. I’m not holding that against him. But he was never good defensively, hasn’t been physical since leveling crosby in playoffs years ago, no speed, no size.

Adam dunn used to lead the leagues in hr & hit .210 is he a good baseball player or just a good power hitter?

- Fopa21

lol with more bad comparisons to other sports. what bad hockey players scored over 100 points?

I’ll take the cups. Thanks

Kopitar, who has won the Selke Trophy twice, was third in Hart voting in 2017-18

Alex Ovechkin – Washington Capitals – 2012-13 While it may have been the least impressive of his three Hart Trophy seasons

Should I keep going?

- Fopa21

Maybe keep going and list the HOF talent each one of those players play with. Then list the HOF talent Giroux plays with.

I don’t buy the new voice stuff. A new voice doesn’t simply come by taking a letter off a player. You wanna take the captaincy away from Giroux, you trade him. We’re not the sharks, the captaincy means something in Philadelphia. There is only one way you take the “C” from G and you know what that is. You trade him. I’m not trading Claude Giroux.
- SuperSchennBros

add no captain can talk a team into winning, leading by example is the main tool they have. Then yeah, lets just give it to Coots, that doesn't have the potential to affect the locker room in a negative way.

so most have said that the young players regressing and not stepping forward was the issue this season, you disagree and it is the Vets... Hayes for sure was off but Coots, G, Jake and JVR pulled their weight, if they younens just played as well as last year this would have been a much better season.
- wcorvette

So, to make this more precise, I looked at points/$ for Couts, JVR, Jake and Roo. They together made 28 mil and contributed 170 points. This works out to $168705 a point. That is right around the median of the 800 players listed, in the neighborhood of David Krejci, William Nylander, Niklas Bakctsrom and a few other star players (ignored the outliers like Wayne Simmonds).

Problem is, these were our stars. Its not like they underperformed their contracts based on league averages. Its that they needed to overperform them because a few have to in order to win, and by subtantial margins (more than Farabee levels)

any interest in David Krejci and Kevan Miller on a short term deal? Krejci is a good center though his age of 35 but a 1 year deal. Miller at 33 is a right D and tough as nails. I'd rather have him than Braun, then fill in the top4 D.

I guess on Krejci I just like the way he plays the game, creates plays and slows it down. Doubt he would take a 1 year deal with a friendly cap hit but I dont see Boston signing either player

That would actually be an interesting exercise. Take the top five point getters from each team and calculate there DVPP (dollar value per point). Then see how that correlates to the final standings for the season.

The worst team in the NHL got 1/3 of their wins against the Flyers this year. And two of the wins were blow outs!!! They also snapped a double digit loosing streak against the flyers. That doesn’t happen with good leadership. Okay loose one time to them give a speech after it doesn’t happen or heads will roll then it happens twice then it happens a third time. Wtf! Either the leader can’t lead or the other players don’t respect him & tune him out. Not to mention the other couple of blowout losses showing no heart no effort no pushback. If young kids see their captain busting his ballss hustling they’re going to follow suit. If they see going through the motions they will go through the motions. Again it’s not rocket science. The amount of zero heart zero effort blowout losses where they wouldn’t wven take a single minor penalty was disgraceful. At least hook someone trying to out battle him & take the puck off him. Pathetic season!

There should be a decent correlation across points/$ for entire team and standings. Standings are correlated with wins, and wins with goals, and goals with points. Most teams are close to salary cap, so the numerator will be roughly the same.

Blowout wins though may pad the point sheet but not the standings. Also, 0-1 assist goals may also hamper the correlation.

The Flyers top five point getters this season had a combined cap hit of $28.78mil and produced 208 points. So they had a $138,365.00 DVPP.

I wonder how other teams top five scorers compare? Really trying to establish which team gets the most bang for there puck from the leading point getters.

yeah, I love posters picking on G and his leadership. Truth is the franchise never game G what he needed to win, the e Sharp types. G has not complained and carried the franchise, that is leadership.

I’m not a G hater and see his place on the Flyers all time list but we are where he CARRIED THE FRANCHISE!

I think most folks prefer a better place!

Avs top 5: 249 points, less than 27 mil (ballpark), less than 109,000 a DVPP (aided in great measure by Makar's ELC and Mackinnon's underpriced deal).

Here is an economist like argument: in a free market, salaries will catch up to production, and this will equalize across teams. So, the winners will be those teams where players either overperform contracts (most likely cause are ELCs and before-peak/bridge contracts). Similarly, teams where players are past peak value when contracts were set will tend to be losers.

I want more. Not more from Giroux. More from the organization. What little they have accomplished is because Giroux took them there. He can only do so much. The fact they made the playoffs in 14 and 16 is a testament to how great he really is.

Be mad at the Flyers organization for making this team into an unwatchable product.

Totally agree with what you said. I too have never been disappointed in a team as this one. We looked like legit contenders last season to this? I also don't buy or want to hear about Covid causing this because as stated every team had to deal with it. Their breakdowns and lack of basic coverage is inexcusable. It's as if they started with a new coaching staff and never practiced together all season long. They need to address a true #1 Dman. Provo isn't it. He can be a top pairing partner but he's not a legit #1 guy
