that it that all
Player will want to come here if we have sucess, not because MB says he will play them - Xizord
I don't do business with people who have proven they can't be trusted and I don't expect others to either, especially when they have numerous other options

so he told this guy he would play, but he sucked donkey balls and didn't get to play after all... how could we possibly trust him??

So he guaranteed the guy he'd play in order to get him to waive the no trade clause that he had earned and then when playoffs came benched him with complete disregard for the methods he used to get him there in the first place

I agree.
It's just hard to imagine a player on the other side of the hill getting a deal like that.
Sounds like desperation, when there really wasn't any..

Again fully agreed. Maybe it's one of those things that is reported but has no basis in reality? If he made the deal as reported, it makes little to no sense but he absolutely should stand behind it if he values his reputation and future in the business. Also breaking the deal would make the Habs look even more amateur than they already do

while not disregarding logic and the desire to ice the best team possible... I really don't see how it would make MB look bad but let bygones be bygones I guess

you mean a silly non-written agreement? stubbornly having Staal in the lineup makes them look more amateur than anything else imo

You don't understand how MB giving and then breaking his word would make him look bad? Pretty sure we've hit agree to disagree territory

I simply don't see how keeping a player in the lineup despite his poor play would impress anyone... he's pretty (frank)ing dumb, but at least he's a man of his word...
