Just put Anderson with Perry and Staal in the 4th Line.
anyone wondering why they have a good team? - fidopro
They also drafted Drouin over Jones which was a pretty bad mistake. I think the big thing that makes them good is they rebuilt properly. Hedman was a number 2 pick and they've had lots of near bottom finishes.

yes Hedman was a #2 pick. Galchenyuk and kk were #3. see the difference?
and yes Drouin was a bad pick, noone is prefect, we all make mistakes. the difference is that some make a lot less of them than others.
how many Kucherov and Point has Timmins drafted the past 18 years?

I'm more playing devil's advocate because I agree that Timmins has been weak overall, but poor asset management has played a part too. The Galchenyuk draft was very weak; only Rielly is a semi decent player that went in the top 5 of that draft. Yakupov, Reinhart, Galchenyuk, and Murray were all more or less busts. KK the jury is still out. We knew Ka(frank) would be a top 6 player, but the hope is KK becomes a top 6 center which is what we need more. To answer your question about Point and Kucherov, 0 because they didn't draft anyone with those names. In terms of good picks that have been made Subban, McDonagh, Sergachev and Pacioretty were all good picks. Gallagher was a brilliant pick. Hell Lehkonen was an alright pick when you look at who went around him. Drafting Kucherov and especially Point were flukes much like drafting Gallagher. If anybody had any inkling of how good they would be they'd be gone top 5.

We haven't tanked in the right draft to get a superstar player. - apex123
oh I agree. a team needs to draft top10 if not top5 very often, and also needs to be lucky to wn the lottery. and even then many fail.
but that doesn't mean they can not draft very good players later on. Kucherov (2nd rd) and Point (3rd rd). Aho (2nd rd), Bergeron (2nd rd) and Marchand (3rd rd) and Pastrnak (late 1st rd)... the list is endless. except for Timmins that is.
like you said, we have to go back 14 years for PK Subban.
and please, don't mention Lekhonen in the same group as Kucheorv and Point.

Pacioretty was a late first and Gallagher was a 5th. I agree the overall performance has been weak though, but players like Marchand and Point going in the 3rd... clearly even the scouts who drafted them didn't know the extent of what they were drafting or else they would have been picked with a 2nd instead. I guess my point is no scout alive could be that good to consistently haul gold from poop. The team has to tank properly to be built properly.

again, not what I'm saying. noone can hit for 1000.
but we have to aknowledge that some have a better record than others.
there's no secret. you have to draft well to succeed.
Habs miss the playoffs 4/5...
