nba has fixed brackets and 2nd round match ups start when a 1st round series in the same conference is still going on

playoffs start next saturday. doesn't mean it will start for the habs on that date but it will be either sunday or monday if it isn't that saturday.

The league is planning to cancel a few pointless games next week, including the Vancouver/Calgary match-ups. This has not been formally announced but the TV partners have know these games are unlikely. The league schedule has also been adjusted to list these games as "TBD".

My source on these games being cancelled is the PA board.

Once the Flames are eliminated, the league are expected to formally propose the cancellation of the final three Flames and Canucks games to the PA who are prepared to approve it. The plan will have the North division playoffs start the weekend of May 15/16. If the Flames manage to survive into next week, the first round will instead include two back-to-back sets for the North division teams. This will enable the playoffs to end before the Olympics start.
