Yeah to go from 3 goals in a cup final to only 3 in his next 75 games over two seasons is a bit of a drop haha. 0.5ppg clip with Pens this season though.

Yup, but realistically I doubt he keeps that pace. Regardless, his all-around game is so solid, that even if he was a 15/20 point guy that would be great for the Pens' 4th line next year.

I remember Gaudreau being a little pain in the a$$ in the 2017 cup final. Very surprised he didnt just stay up in the big show this whole time, especially seeing him play like he has for Pens.

My buddy and I were laughing about the Penguins "evaluation" of Jank/Freddy during the first few months of the season. Jank literally sucking the life out of his line on a nightly basis for months while Freddy was stuck in the AHL.

Just goes to show you how much "pedigree" plays into things. Jank was a 1st rounder and Freddy was undrafted. High draft picks will continually get chances even after they consistently prove they're not worthy

You mad bro? Carter has been playing good, he got rewarded big time last night. If you read the article, Wilson said even without the 4 goals last night..

Random post game radio bit from Steigy last night was that it was Talbot who pushed Gaudreau to sign with Pittsburgh. They need to get that man a new contract.

It's a really deep group. You could make the argument they have 8 possible top 6 players right now, an elite shutdown checking line, and a couple useful depth guys in ERod and Gaudreau battling for the last spot.

- Tojo.

Thanks for sharing that, pretty interesting. Talbot is the man!

I'm with you on the Gaudreau/Rod evaluation. Even though Rod was scoring, something just seems off. Like it's definitely not sustainable. Now don't get me wrong, I think either would be fine on the 4th line however they are getting bumped to the 3rd line because Tanev will most likely be back with his boys.

Really glad gmjr put together another quality roster for the pens this year. MM and Ceci are good additions. Evan Rodriguez found his role and Sceviour is ok to fill in on a forth line. Oh and real hockey fans don’t care about a broadcast team.

I dunno about that. Some guys can make games painful to listen to lol. Don't get me wrong, it's not stopping me from watching/listening to games, but if I didn't have to here Pierre do another broadcast I'd be thrilled.

I hope Carter tears it up for the Pens, so both conditional draft picks going to LA are upgraded.

Kinda shocked you like E Rod. Seems like not a very Grinder player.

Carter is good and all, but I can't say I have some faith in Penguin goaltending. I feel like the Pens will go as far as their shaky goaltending will take them

Hopefully our defense returns to where it was at a couple weeks ago. We're aren't getting out of the first round if we don't. Boston or the Islanders aren't going to let us fire at will on their back up goaltenders.

While I agree that the defense needs to tighten up, it's easier said than done playing non-playoff teams like the Flyers and Sabres that themselves are essentially bringing all 5 every time they get the puck, and have thrown defense out the window becuase they have nothing to lose. It's hard for playoff teams to matchup against those ones with the same systematic approach to defense they typically use. When the playoffs start, defense will be a major component again by nature, and you won't see these shootouts (intentionally at least).

On a side note: Buffalo did a pretty good job on the Isles two games in a row before this one, so don't people knock what the Pens did to them as simply what happens when a good team plays a bad one. Buffalo either isn't as bad as their record says, or the Isles are just awful.

It looks like Pens get the ROW tiebreaker, so win tomorrow and Wash cannot afford a loss in regulation. Root for the Flyers to split, but if home ice is on the line, don't discount the Boston/Wash game meaning somthing.

Buffalo have been a far better product on the ice since the coaching change and the Isles arnt awful.
