I was listening to leafs lunch earlier this week, and they were saying matthews wrist was so bad he wasn’t even able to grip his stick with the bad hand. They said they had experiment with different size knobs just so he could hold it.

I've experimented with getting my hand around different size knobs.

How many slap shots was he taking when they had the best PP in the League?
- Canada Cup

Right now Rielly is a useless on the powerplay. Everyone knows he doesn’t shoot so they need to get him involved more somehow.

If they win the Cup they'll say it has an asterisk.

Next 2 games, rest one or more of Matthews, Marner, JC and the Sunshine Band, JT and....there’s no more and’s, I don’t think...maybe.

Dirty Habs will try to wreck one or more of the above. Auston has 40 and the Richard locked up, he doesn’t need to play either of those games.
Can’t trust the Sens either, they may be pissy with the Leafs.

I would love if they rested Matthews a bit, I still think his wrist is bothering him a bit, but I doubt he will just due to him wanting to continue his goal steak for the season.

Definitely rest some players.

40 and the Richard are good enough. He’ll want 50 in 50 as the major target next year.

I'm not going to, but I'd like to see someone take a look at the PK against us early in the year and see if adjustments were made. I would bet you that earlier in the year the PK alignment was stretching out to the points to pressure Rielly and protect against the threat of a shot. As they realized this was less of an option, the pressure on Rielly became more passive allowing them to keep the cross-ice seams tighter.

Another thing we do is we try and get the puck to Matthews for the shot. Maybe they should make Matthews secondary and try and get the puck to Tavares for a bit and make him the primary shooter and see if Matthews can pull guys out of alignment and leave room for JT or even Nylander. But if I'm the opponent, I've recognized that Matthews is the danger, having scored 30% of our Power Play goals, and I'm adjusting my PK to key on him.

When the powerplay was working, they were bringing a third guy back high. Defences didn't know what to do.

Defences have figured it out - don't worry about the 3rd guy at the blueline until he drops back down low.

The thing I'd like to see is a little more movement by the players. They are all nailed to their positions on the ice.

It’s also way to much passing around the outside. It needs some more desperation to it.

Mother's day isn't a buying holiday unless you're talking about flowers or a card. Buying mother's day gifts is like buying easter gifts in my book.

I guess the answer to your question is when marketing folks got their grubby hands on everything that resembles an annual holiday?

The inventor of Mother's Day later came to regret it and lobby against it. In her later destitute years her rent was paid by the floral industry.

So serious question:

Can Calgary overtake Montreal?

The magic number for Montreal is one. One measly point. Montreal needs to earn one point, or Calgary drop one point.

Montreal's final three games:

Toronto
Edmonton
Edmonton

We'll be playing to win - we need one more point to clinch first place.

The question is will Edmonton be icing a full squad. If we clinch Saturday night, they are only playing to get McDavid to 100.

Calgary's final five games:

Ottawa
Vancouver
Vancouver
Vancouver
Vancouver

Ottawa is actually playing well these days. They are 7-2-1 in their last 10.

But if Calgary can beat Ottawa, things might get very interesting.

No. Don't underestimate Calgary's ability to suck.
