Was there any update on Keith?

What a bizarre thing to happen.

First of all...no.

Also, there's quite a difference between simply not knowing if JC's the guy and criticizing him vs the meltdowns exhibited by some from regarding a team that's stated it's rebuilding.

If you're having a conniption where you're throwing the baby out with the bathwater there's a good chance me or one of the "gang" (aka the Posse) might poke fun. All in good fun of course.

I've heard about them I thought it was a rumor/ secret society conspiracy type of thing....

Yeah, the kids needing to learn it, I get. How do you think the vets (both D and F) group are doing with it? DBC seems to be doing well.

(you're not going to goad me in to a debate by assuming I'm anti-JC or slamming the team - I'm just trying to understand what the more knowledgeable people on the board think is holding the team back from succeeding under this scheme. am I reading this right that you think it's largely the inexperience?)

- pdx2ord

The team has had what seven, eight rookies in the lineup during the season. Add to that a bunch of journeymen retreads. Can a great coach like Quenneville overcome that lack of talent and experience? I say no. So do I blame JC for the fact this team isn’t in the playoffs? I say no. Do I think JC is a great coach or the Hawk’s coach of the future! I have no idea?

It is interesting that the team with the best record in the league plays "JC's beer league system", too.

It is. You need to know the secret handshake but more importantly you need to know what brown liquid to bribe them with.

I thought it got switched to JD and Gordon, who then would hire Gallant.

Has the ice been like that for a while, or was it just last night? I counted about 9 or 10 times when either a Hawk or Cane either lost an edge or flat out toe picked. Most were near the blue lines. A lot of mishandled pucks on both sides as well.

I know the list was shortened recently, but the normal answer is anyone is better.

There's something weird about the rink in Raleigh. Pucks bounce around a LOT. Haven't seen many complaints about the ice itself the last few years, so it makes me wonder if they just don't freeze the pucks as long as they should or what. It's strange.

Since a lot of the criticism is about JC's lack of experience, I heard Don Cherry should be available.

The Keith concussion was due to Bettman, he was in communication with the on ice officials prior to the game and were told to take out Blackhawk players. The second one was also due to Bettman, I’m just trying to figure out how. I’m hoping PE logs on to explain it to us.

The veterans are not talented enough
The youngsters are still too green

It is not just defensive coverage. It is also what you do with the puck when you get it. Murphy, Keith (current model, not the HOF Keith), Da Haan and Z are substandard in making a good outlet pass, or for that matter cleanly handling the puck.

Bovquist was the best D, and Kalnuk has become the second best D at exiting the zone. How many times do the Hawks turn over the puck just inside their blue line? Good teams rarely do that.

- LAHawk

This is correct.

We should talk about the remaining games in the central division...

The playoff matchups are basically already set.

It's CAR vs NSH
TBL vs FLA.

Kicker is that, going into the playoffs, Tampa and Florida play each other twice to finish their seasons, and Carolina and Nashville play twice to finish off theirs.

What do those games look like? Are they bloodbaths trying to send a message, or do both teams coast, trying not to tip their hands knowing that the ones that really count come later?
