Schneider aint sniffing the NHL till he get a year of AHL under his belt. Probably Nils too
- rrentz

Maybe Schneider. Nils has been playing professional hockey for years (at a historically high level for that league) and is going to be 21.

no, you are just the dumbest regular poster on this blog and its irritating

everybody is annoyed that you bring this back to ADA every single day, it's not just me

- jimbro83

I didn’t bring up ADA, and most of the time I don’t someone else does. I’m actually not happy JD and Gorton are gone, very unstable times ahead. With that said I don’t think drafting guys 2-3 years away helps the team address the issue of being east to play against this year. You don’t win in the NHL getting walked all over, you need established roles to be successful and they did nothing this year to address that.

I dont know what to expect, I mean we all said that about K'Andre too

it seems like Nils has a leg up on Schneider simply due to age though

But it’s 2021 right now
- picklerick

I took that as it didn't kick in til 2024 and that it was only 15 team NMC. FUUUUCK.

I hate those goddam NMCs.

I can understand a NMC for a newly signed player for 1st year or two of contract so they don't have family problems w/ moving family and such, but besides that...NO MORE NMCs!

Youre using what history to come to this conclusion?

Last I saw, correct me if Im wrong, guys named Adam Fox and K'Andre Miller went straight from college to the NHL.

Why? Drury has plenty of knowledge and has learned from Gorton, Sather, JD, etc. He knows what he's doing. He's already said that Gorton/JD did a great job and he will pretty much keep on that track, but will also pay more attention to the character side of the team.

My opinion is based on probability. Fox and Miller aren't the norm. Also, Schneider is supposed to be a bruiser, albeit one w/ skill. He will probably need to put on some serious muscle and fill him frame b4 he's playing that role in the NHL...nO?

And again...this is my opinion..Not saying I'm right and everyone else is wrong.

I think you are probably right but I do believe this will be a competition at training camp

Schneider is 6'2, 210lbs as it is right now... Robertson is 6'4, 210lbs as well...

How much bigger do you want these guys to get?

I mean sure, they need to develop that man strength but that will come with time and years, however size wise, theyre just fine. They already have that edge that Miller lacks.

I hope so. I would love to see players jumping back n forth from AHL to NHL. Many players need that. That competition will hopefully breed the character guys NYR needs to win. Knowing that after any given game you can be replaced gives a lot of motivation

If it’s left to Drury Im comfortable, but if Sather has more weight than he’s had these past few years I’m not a fan. I guess we won’t know til summer

So you really think a d corp with Fox, Miller, Lindgrin, Schneider, Lundqvist and Trouba is the way to go next season?

well a normal year next year for both the NHL and AHL will go a long way towards that happening, although I dont want to be accused of using the Covid disruptions to these last two seasons as an excuse again

Hey, obviously being the youngest team in the league during these Covid seasons hurt NYR more then most. Nothing wrong w/ admitting that. It just can't be the excuse for everything.

I look at this whole thing as Dolan taking a half cooked pizza out of the oven 10 minutes early and firing the guys for the pizza not being done yet

Honestly, if Smith wants to come back on the cheap, Id be more comfortable with him on the 3rd pairing with one of either Robertson or Schneider, while the other will develop in the AHL and might get an occasional call up. Id prefer to lean more for Schneider just based off what Ive seen and heard about the kid. He seems like a true leader, and does so by example.

Not saying I'm against it if they prove capable right of the bat, but it just doesn't seem realistic..That's all

Well, we will just have to wait for training camp and hopefully we have a Traverse City tournament to see how they play against similar level competition.
