Eichel is going to be a Ranger, you can put big money on it, BU boy with the BU GM and BU Coach, good god what are we gonna trade for him, I'm terrified of this offseason - KreiderBomb
I have the same gut feeling. If they get Eichel and are able to buy low because of this injury it may be worth taking a chance but if they pay like he’s a top 5 center in the league it could ruin the rebuild. I do have some faith in Drury though. Clearly a smart guy, clearly loves this franchise, clearly shocked his mentors got canned and he’s in the position he is. He’s in year 1 of what could be a 30 year career as a GM/President in this league. I think he will do the right thing and stay on track for the most part. |

The more I think about Brendan Smith, the more I want him back. A 3rd pair of Lundkvist and Smith could actually be pretty perfect and balanced. Sign him for 2 years even, let the other kids grow in Hartford. |

I just want that piece of business signing Nils Lundkvist to be taken care of at this point and don't want Rangers front office chaos to effect that from getting done

I’ll be shocked if Quinn isn’t fired by the end of the weekend. I don’t think he has done a bad job, there’s a lot I’ve liked, but also a lot I haven’t liked. With this purge, I just can’t imagine they keep him. I think it also doesn’t help him how much different, and better the team looked when Knoblauch was behind the bench. If they do, I hope we get Gallant
One thing has certainly been proven, this roster cant compete with the top teams. Even though we have a ton of kids, the current core of this team, Kreider, Zib, Buch, Panarin, Strome, Trouba are all 26-30 years old and we need to make the needed tweaks in a couple of areas to not waste their primes. Seems like those issues WILL be addressed this off season, we just have to trust that Drury will not stick a cigar in his mouth and pay triple the price for the pieces we need. I don’t think Drury will be a puppet for Dolan and Sather, he was a highly sought after commodity around the league.

You still have to be excited for the future, this team has some good prospects and players. We need a center. Hopefully they can trade for one not named Eichel or Getzlaf.
Im just a bit nervous with overpaying, Sather IMO always did. The RM for Gomez deal was lucky, he was just looking to dump Gomez. - Brukie
That's my fear, we are going to sign 3 4th line tough guys to long term deals to get tougher which will hurt the Rangers chances to resign players like Zib etc down the line. Also we are desperate and trade to much for Eichel. |

Definitely priority #1. I doubt he had any attachments to the front office, but the chaos is definitely a bad look.
I also think it’s highly unlikely we have Fox, Lundkvist, and Jones in the lineup long-term if the team is trying to get harder to play against. I’m not sure if you can dress more than 2 of those undersized defenseman, even though Fox doesn’t play like one. The skill is great but guys need to know they’re gonna get punished in front of the net. |

That's the other thing, Drury has no experience or track record we can go with. We knew Gorton and JD have had success in the past building teams and had a plan in place. The unknown of what Drury does to build a team just makes it hard not to be nervous. Yea he could be good but he could also be frankin terrible and just ruin the foundation in place |

If most of us here realize that becoming a tough team doesn't mean signing 4th line goons, than I would think Drury understands that as well. If JD wasn't the one fired, I don't think any of us would be freaking out right now. NYR did get embarrased in every single meaningful game this year...no?

Yea but what were they supposed to do? They had no cap space. It's hard to make changes to roster when you have no room to do it. I am willing to give Drury a chance but its hard not to be a bit worried for the future is my point, too much unknown now. |

what I don't get is that did Dolan want them to make a deal at the deadline to acquire "what was missing"?
did he want them to acquire it last summer when Covid was raging? with a shortened season coming up of 13 million in cap space dedicated to buyouts
WTF

I just wish they could have had this one last offseason to prove themselves. With the cap space opening up I really think they had a plan to address the needs this offseason. |

And since Drury has been here and isn't new to the mix, hopefully he knows that plan and sticks with it. |

Or maybe Dolan felt it was mismanagement to have $13 mill in cap space dedicated to buyouts and another $5 mill wasted on ADA with zero return??? |

In Dolan's eyes, regardless of circumstances (Covid, rebuild, etc.) NYR got smoked in all meaningful games this year.....so is he to believe that all of a sudden next year will be a playoff/stanley cup contender? Also have to take into account that Panarin, Zib, Kreider, Trouba are all in their prime getting big $$$ and some others are due significant raises.
IDK, the more I look at it after my initial reaction to the firings (mostly b/c I love JD) is that Dolan actually was correct.
Now lets see if Drury has some answers.

I hoped for that too.....oh well.
Drury will probably do a lot of what Gorts and JD planned, and HE will get the credit |

yeah, similar to people forgetting that Craig Patrick drafted Richter, Leetch, Turcotte, Vanbiesbrouck, Granato...the list goes on

He said without hesitation that he will stay the course that JD and Gorton laid out. People need to calm down. Drury has been an assistant so it’s not like he’s going into this blind. The JD part was just dumb and probably fired because he wouldn’t fire Gorton. But honestly, any pres of a team is never really known about like JD was, only because he was loved by the fan base, or a GM has duel titles. It wasn’t fair at all to JD, but we gotta move on
Sather is just a guy to bounce things off of, he’s not gonna be making any roster decisions

I cant see how the Rangers can trade for Eichel. The Sabres will want a center in return, something we dont have. If they do trade for Eichel then I cant see Zib staying. Eichel 10 Zib around 8-9 Panarin at 11 Trumba at 8 and CK20 at 6.5. You cant have 5 player taking up more than half of your cap space. |

Being optimistic....
Until proven otherwise, I will Trust Drury. he was a star player in this league, and played on a cup winner, he knows the chemistry needed on the ice and in the locker room to have a winning team. That's experience Gorton unfortunately didn't have |

I cant see anyone trading for Eichel at this point. 10M a year coming off a horrible season and serious neck injury...
Having typed that we will trade for him Monday

Drury has been a winner his whole life. We could’ve done a lot worse then him that’s for sure
The JD part is what scares people and I get it. But I doubt he made any decisions over Gortons head, which is what people think Sather will do now. He 2 yrs away from a damn nursing home ffs |
