It’s not, but financially it makes more sense to trade him than one of the younger guys. Buch has really hit his stride the past 2 years and developed as a leader as well as becoming a 3 zone player. Love the nasty he’s added to his game as well.

This is why I think he stays

got the feelng after the game those guys were treating it like it was Buch's last NYR game

hugging on bench at the end and I think Buch went and got the puck

I love him and he drives me nuts at the same time, perfect symbol of the NYR Rangers for me

- jimbro83

It just seems that if he’s moved it’s bc there isn’t room with Kakko and kravs. I think all those guys are top 6 players. Buch has the lowest ceiling and may have priced his way out of ny. Hopefully if he’s moved it’s part of a bigger package for a center

I have a question ...

Buch is due a nice raise....probably on the 4-5 mill. range. He has proven himself a good two way player, who kills penalties, plays PP, is a 20+ goal scorer, and plays tough.

Why is it a forgone conclusion that NYR is trading him?

- rrentz

Because the Rangers have a glaring need at C and Buch's value is extremely high. Trading Buch gives us a financial buffer for a couple extra years as well as gives us the ability to fill the glaring need without giving up a lot of extra pieces.

We could potentially trade Buch 1 for 1 for Hertl. Thats a big deal.

I feel like 50% chance Quinn is staying

50% chance Torts is getting re-hired

- jimbro83

Quinn may go.

If he does, I think there will be very little chance Torts comes back to replace him. Good coach for a veteran team, just not a rebuilding one. Babcock worries me more than Torts!

I'd rather much hire Gallant than rehire Torts but I'd rather give Quinn another season with a healthy and more complete roster

This is pretty much the sentiment across the board I feel. We would be happy with Gallant and would rather let Quinn have his final year than have Torts rehired. Babcock no one wants.

With all the abuse Strome gets he still put up 2 assists yesterday without Panarin and finished the season with 49 points, never missing a game. As long as his cap hit remains the same or just a bit more, Id keep him for another few years as the 3rd line center.

Completely agree

Torts would be a disaster with the number of kids we have.

I'm surprised, I expected Quinn to get the Vigneault treatment and get fired as he got off the plane yesterday. If they keep him, I'm ok with that but he needs to improve in his weak areas, e.g. the team sleep walking through the first period, and in game adjustments.

I know some on here say these are Pro athletes and slow starts are on them, but we have A LOT of kids that need to learn this, maybe that responsibility falls on a Captain, I don't know

Its going to cost too much for him to be the 3C. Personally, if we strike it big with a trade that costs us 2 RW's, I wouldnt mind keeping Strome as a RW, however as a center someone like Hertl is far more appealing and a big, physical force at 3C who can win faceoffs.

Hertl would be a perfect 2C for us, just don't see why his current team would trade him.
If we are going to overpay in a trade, it will need to be someone younger than Hertl to grow with our kids.

I'd keep Strome over Chytil

Hertl is going on the final year of his deal with SJ next year. Theyre clearly a massive hot mess thats trying to rebuild with albatross contracts. Im sure Hertl doesnt want to spend the prime of his career being in last place.

As far as getting somebody younger, its tough because the ones that are NHL ready are likely on teams that need them and are rebuilding. For example, Id love to go after Josh Norris in OTT but theyd never trade him.

I think someone Hertl's age is perfect for this team, we have enough young kids on this team. The kid's are ready to start winning, we need to start creating a culture of winning. Going after more kids to build around just feels like a lateral move at this point.

Good news guys Torts isn't resigning with CLB and Dolan is reminiscing about old times with him.(sarcasm)

We finally made it to the end of an honest proper rebuild and all signs point to a Torts reunion where players spend all game blocking shots and facing the boards, trading for Eichel who will get more than $1M per goal, and overpaying to waste a roster spot on an enforcer... Dolan probably called Aaron Asham directly.

Also Babcock can F right off. No team should ever hire that guy again.

I feel like if Quinn is gone we will know by tomorrow right? This doesn't seem like a decision they are going to ponder. They either decided already or won't do it.

I agree, why bother wait. If were gonna tear it down and end the rebuild here and make team building/playoff contender moves, just get it over with.

My view has been clear, you keep him unless blown away by an offer you can't refuse

Yes, way it should be. If firing him, do so at or after the end of season pack up day

A true #2 center with term remaining longer than a year or more physical top-six winger with similar term. I don't think he should be moved

Yea I am not trading him unless it’s for a center. Rangers aren’t really in the place to trade him for future prospects and picks anymore.
