Looking at points from our central division rivals this year and how they translate into next year.

Colorado - 78 points
Minnesota - 75 points
Nashville - 64 points
Dallas - 60 points
Winnipeg - 59 points
St. Louis - 59 points
Chicago - 55 points
Arizona - 54 points

We are not even a playoff team in that division. Yet I bet there are some guys on here that give no blame to either Uncle Paul or Chevelallseasonoff.

That means both Stastny and Perreault are definitely coming back. I wonder what Mark Letestu is up to these days.

Big Stastny fan. If the Jets had 23 Stastny's in the lineup, they would not lose. Very underrated for what he does defensively. I'd sooner bump PLD to the wing and keep Stats down the middle. Too many times I have seen PLD one step too slow back-checking in the slot. He would be a beast on the wing.

Anyway, all this slump can be forgiven and forgotten if they come out ready to play next week.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Paul Stastny too. I do though recognize that he’s not what he used to be.

At the beginning of this season, I had him marked down as the Jets third line center and was lambasted by a couple of other posters for doing so. Speaking of which, I wonder how they felt about him being the third line left winger last night.

So if the Jets were to lose tonight and the Habs win then it sets up a very interesting scenario for our final game against the Leafs. You can be pretty sure that the Leafs would much rather play the Habs in Round 1. I also think that the Jets would rather play the Leafs due to their lack of success against the Oilers. You could therefore see both coaches dress a lot of guys on the Taxi squads and play the backup goalies. It may be a game neither team wants to win.

An interesting setup should the scenario arise.

The best scenario would have been winning the division and playing the Habs in the first round, while watching the Oilers and Leafs kill each other.

They wouldn’t kill each other, this is the northern division... I have seen more violence from flower girls at weddings.

You can’t really look at it this way, when these teams didnt all play each other with this years set up.
It’s like me saying if Colorado was in a division with Vegas, Carolina and Florida they miss the playoffs, how poopty are they?

I am fine with him being on the 3rd line, so long as PoMo is running a balanced 3 line attack with the 4th line seeing 8-9 minutes a night. Lewis/Thompson and whoever gets shafted with them can watch most the game from the bench. I would prefer Stastny at centre over PLDB anyday tho.
