Lol the team has 6 fights, 6 FIGHTS, Wilson leaves the game cause he’s a female dog and people are still mad? - Rangers99
they had two full periods to do something to him. all they could muster was brendan smith getting tossed around.
why should he stay in? so some 5'10" forward takes his knee out? |

Is it me or does it feel like the rebuild is starting all over again. Has the same feeling I felt when the letter was released - TPC
I don't think so. This is a very good, highly skilled Ranger team. It lacks experience and needs to add some grit. It would be a huge error to think the rebuild has gone off track.
Biggest mistake that can be made is to put too much emphasis on measuring success based on an appearance in playoffs. Building a playoff contender is a lot simpler than building a championship team.

Ya answer the bell, for the tough guy he is and all the cheap shots he gives out, he’s can’t continue because he might get a cheap shot? Sounds like a female dog to me |

he did - and all this (frank)ing franchise could throw at him was brendan (frank)ing smith.

They have a ton of skill but the team isn’t good. Not complete yet and coaching very suspect. They have the toughest pieces in place tho. Get that number two center and some hard to play against 4th liners they wl be good |

Today all the talk was this team isnt going to do anything. Wilson only played 2:36. The only guy I thought would fight him did fight him and Buch was going after him. Who else? |

In some fairness Trouba Kreider and Lindgren definitely would’ve been in the mix if they weren’t hurt. But they still need to add a few more guys |

I’d also be a huge supporter of signing Smith as a 7th dman/4th line forward. He’s stepped up in a huge way this 2nd half of the season. |

Tonight might have made Buch a little more expendable. Not a huge fan of those cheap shots. Also really wonder the odds we keep the (likely) 14th pick. Thinking less than 50%. |

I know but if you do it you can’t be a p*ssy about it. If he grabbed Backstrom and punched him in the face I would have been pumped. |

Mantha came over to start with him Buch gave him a shot. It’s not like Buch blindsided him, Mantha was starting it. |

I haven't read the earlier posts but this game has been a complete clown show. The NHL should be embarrassed that they allowed this to happen on national TV. While I like the rangers coming out with some bite they did absolutely nothing with those fights. They arguably lost all 6. Had to do it but no damage was inflicted. It's not their fault they shouldn't have been put in a position where they need to do this. The NHL wants to "take fighting out of hockey" but enables this bullpoop.
As for the JD/JG thing, I've cooled down a bit and actually trust Drury to do what is right from the GM perspective, I don't have any worries there. The JD firing is concerning. I didn't read the message as "we need to get tougher." I read it as "we haven't made the playoffs in 4 years and haven't had fans in 1.5 so not making the playoffs is unacceptable." This is classic James Dolan not understanding sports and tinkering like he does with the Knicks. I pray Drury can hold him off to some degree and stay the course, but I think we'll see some short term moves made this offseason. I don't think that means blowing things up either though. I guess we'll see

I guess but the Rangers need toughness. Swinging a stick doesn’t make you tough IMO. It’s like kicking someone in the shin and running away, anyone can do that. |

Agree 100% but it will come down to dollars. Does he accept that he's been overpaid the past few years and take a cheap deal or chase something in free agency? No doubt other teams have seen what he can offer and will give him something slightly higher than I'd be comfortable with. Hopefully he opts to stay. |

That play started with Mantha slashing Buch back in the defensive zone, which is why Buch stopped dead in his tracks. He couldn't believe it wasn't called. Then Mantha gives his a little facewash/shot to the head. Buch lays a clean hit on him in the offensive zone and Mantha follows him slashing his legs. Whistle blows and they both go towards each other. Mantha came up with the stick too, Buch just got there first. It was a penalty for sure but in no way was that a cheap shot |

This is a mistake. I think Davidson and Gorton were talented guys who knew what they were doing. The Rangers finally seemed to be building a long term contender. They’re not that far away. Lots of young talent. This could go south quickly. |
