wtf is he chiming in for?
- NYRangers1124

they asked him about it.

And yes, it's a real quote.

He's still under probation from the NHL for criticizing league officiating.

EDIT: and yeah he was asked about the Tom Wilson vs the Rangers thing.

Anyone think that letter will alienate other potential front office candidates?
- JRR1285

Smith did a ton of dumb things, but to me the cup did justify it. I won't even argue that we could have still won without trading Amonte or Gartner.

I've always maintained two things about teams that have won in the cap era: They've always had big moves that went for it, and both had downfalls afterwards as a cost of doing business.

I think the Kings may be the closest example you'd use as a team that you'd want to see us emulate as someone who kept their nucleus together. Even then though, they traded Simmonds, Schenn, Johnson, etc and are still struggling after years of rebuilding.

I just think when the window opens, you have to take advantage of it. This isn't the 90s, you can't be the Wings and just stay on top forever.

Chicago won three Cups using the rebuild. Toews, Kane and Keith were constants. Who says New York doesn’t have that in place?

As an aside, Brind'amour has a bit of a history with the Caps and Wilson, specifically. Todd Reirdon accused him of challenging Wilson to a fight during a preseason game in which Wilson was being his typical dippoop self and taking runs at rookies.

No love lost there.

And Brind”Amour is still in great shape. Probably could take Wilson

I gotta be honest, the doom and gloom about Sather still baffles me. Post first lockout he was fine. They were a playoff team basically every season and a cup contender after awhile. I swear you guys need pills man, unbelievable how every thing rangers is the end of the world. He’s just a figure head now anyway. Relax have a shot and/or a cream soda holy (frank) lol

It sucks for JD. That’s what bothers me. His dream job only lasted two years. That’s (frank)ed up man

TJ, i think i am usually pretty measured. I disagree with these moves on many levels and don’t think Sather is a good GM any more. He has Dolan’s ear, that’s enough to concern me.

Chicago also made splashed by acquiring Hossa, trading Cam Barker for Leddy and Kim Johnsson, and constantly making other moves to help sure up their depth. Even those guys made trades.

he might! Dude still takes the same fitness testing the players do every preseason. I think this was the first year he didn't place first in anything.

I didn’t say I agree with the moves, I’m just not nearly as upset as everyone else. JD got shafted tho, definitely not fair to him

He was doing the same thing when Gortan was hired. He’s just a consultant basically. And again, what did Sather do that was so bad? I don’t get it I never got the hatred towards him

Messier was right, The Rangers are SOFT, They accomplished nothing on Wednesday night none of the meaningless fights affected Tom Wilson at all and until they go after him and get him they will look like the pansies that they are.

His crime was he went for it and failed. If the 12 or 14 teams have won, he'd have a statue. That's just how sports work.

Maybe you should go watch another team if you can't comprehend what went down Wednesday night. It wasn't just about Tom Wilson, it was about giving a middle finger to the league.

Who gives a poop what Messier said? He's not a part of the organization at the moment.

Gortan took over a great team when he was hired. Which was all Sather. He made bad signings yea, but doesn’t every GM have that claim?

That's what sports journalism is nowadays.
Every question is phrased to lead the interviewee to answer exactly the way the reporter is looking for to support the article that is already written in their head. Almost never an unexpected or enlightening answer.

I definitely think they are soft

but it's like taking a pizza out of the oven halfway through and complaining about it not being cooked

(I used a pizza analogy because of Drury's pizza places)
