I just pray it’s not Eichel or Barkov. You can’t have 3 10+ million dollar players and multiple other 7+ million dollar players with a flat cap. Something we’ve never really talked about but what about trading Zib with his contract coming up? Get a young guy like Cozens+ or get 2 of the kids from the Kings?

there isn't anyone safe IMO other than Lafreniere, Fox and the NMC guys

I don't even fully guarantee Sather would think Shesterkin is the guaranteed #1 goalie here

there is very little out of the realm of possibility for Sather to advise Drury on what he thinks it takes to build a winning hockey team

I get where you're going. But, to me it might still not be worth it. I may have been wearing blueshirt coloured glasses, but I liked to think we were setting things up to take multiple Cup runs. Not saying anything was guaranteed, but...

This! The way we had been building, we were looking like Pitt/Chicago/LA. Young talented players and goalie and you can switch out the veterans/grit and have a solid 5 year run from 2023-2028 or so. I'm just hoping they don't go and trade a bunch of younger guys to get a few old guys, maybe get 1 cup or a cup run like 2014 and then 2 years later be in the same situation we were in 2-3 years ago.

they should have tried to work out something behind the scenes where like they would announce it that he's decided to leave the team

My one hope is that Sather did seem to learn from his poor signings (Redden, Gomez and Drury(how (frank)ing ironic ) etc. Maybe he'll have better input than we're expecting.

I could just imagine Drury telling Sather he thinks signing someone is not the best idea but Sather will just respond with "I signed you despite being told not to"

I definitely dont want Eichel. Obviously I love Barkov, but the money will probably screw the Rangers in the long run. My choice would be Tomas Hertl, obviously he would need to agree to resign with the Rangers.
