I specifically got up early this morning so I could hear what Boomer had to say on the matter. Definitely appears that all patience with the rebuild is completely over and we are going to be making many changes this off-season. I’m all about getting tougher to play against but not at the expense of signing players to ridiculous contracts and mortgaging the future. Drury is about to feel that pressure

I liked how Boomer brought up Gauthier. Pretty much like you guys who want a guy like Gauthier in the lineup all the time are in for a big disappointment

I don’t get the hype around Gauthier. He’s as soft as charmin toilet paper. Enough with the infatuation with him.

oh it's over

and I tell you another thing, I truly believe that Dolan went to JD and Dolan last summer and specifically said we need a guy like Matt Martin and they told him no, "trust the process"

and then Dolan himself saw that same Matt Martin virtually end the Rangers playoff hopes on April 20th and the Rangers get steamrolled the rest of the season

I think Sather would have signed Martin last summer if he was still in charge and that decision factored heavily into this

Matt Martin fired JD and Gorton

Oh that’s a great point Jimmy. Didn’t even think about that. I just don’t want them going into this off season and just hand out a 4 year 4mill per for an enforcer because of the sequence of events that’s happened the last couple games. We can address that area without breaking the bank.

Ugh. Im having some serious PTSD after yesterday.

Very concerned with whats going to happen in the offseason. I really hope they dont make moves for the sake of making moves.

However, its very evident that Sather still has a lot of clout in this organization.

Im definitely convinced there was a meeting after the losses and our elimination from the playoffs. Im not sure if that set the wheels in motion, but the Caps game... the events that occurred... followed by the press release, surely put the nail in the coffin.

One other thing we can now safely assume, COVID or not, ownership doesnt care or give do-overs.

I always hoped that Dolan would keep his fat, greasy hands away from the Rangers and firmly secured on the throat of the Knicks.

Yah said that yesterday that I’m afraid of Sather getting his nose back in there. He screwed the rangers for years.

Dreiger last night talk about the punishment the Rangers will face for the statement that they made. He said it would be a significant number so I am guessing maybe $1M since San Jose lost $100k for a benign letter in comparison.

After last nights debacle, does anyone worry that the NHL comes down harder on the Rangers and takes away their 1st round draft pick as well as fining them?

I thought about that too but it would be unprecedented.

Like Martin but not his contract. I am all for having an identity 4th line like the isles and rolling 3 skilled lines. Have no problem moving buch and chytl plus for a good center.

I think there’s a lot more to all of this
- nyrangers9479

Well so far it’s been reported this is the main reason. I am not just speculating. You can speculate all you want

The thing is what happens if the rangers don’t make the playoffs next year? They going to fire Drury?

I still can’t believe Dolan agreed to a rebuild and since it wasn’t going fast enough cut the cord after 3 years. He does understand what the word rebuild means right? lol
- TPC

He read this thread to many times stating that the rebuild is over and the Rangers were going to compete for the Cup this year.

I dont think so, they didnt circumvent anything or break any bylaws, its just a letter. As far as the game goes, it was a couple of fights, thats what penalties are for.

I think the Rangers are going to lose that first round pick as they will trade it away to Vegas for Reaves.

well i could certainly see them trading the 4th rounder they got for Lemieux for a guy like Reaves, in fact I expect it

I tell you right now I seriously doubt that Dolan even approved of buying out Lundqvist

he had to be convinced of it

I loved having JD back in the organization and feel he and Gorton did a good job. The turn over of players over the past few years of this rebuild has been fantastic, and I feel that considering the shiiit storm that affected 1/2 of last season , this offseason, and current season, they would be given a pass for not making playoffs. I do understand Dolan's point of view (can't believe I said that). Zib, Panarin, and Kreider are in their prime. A "real" team needs to be put in place. Not one of rookies, prospects, superstars, and stop gaps. Some tough decisions are set to go down. At least Drury does seem like a level headed guy.

I thought at the time and I still think it, Matt Martin is exactly who this team needs/needed.

I also think he was pissed he was paying Tony 10 million just to sit at home. I honestly think there is a chance he is back now next year

Reasons for firing:

*ADA Fiasco
*Not making enough progress in Dolan's eyes from last year
*Getting rolled by Isles
*Looking weak
*Disagreement over letter

Agreed, all of the buyouts, they are carring 13 million in dead cap space. I mean not for nothing but when people say, just buy him out, thats lost money. Imagine going to your boss year after year and telling him he has to lose more money. It doesnt matter how rich you are, NOBODY likes to lose money.

No where if all thing stay the same. I guess it would depend on who is moved and what is brought back. Not trying to over simplify it.
