Maybe don't give a 2 on 1 up to potentially the 2 best players on earth

I used grownups rather loosely but itโ€™s all relative. Grownups compared to calgary trash. Hopefully that makes more sense

I dont have anything backwards - we actually partially agree. Goalie anticipates shot, but Dman tries to force the shooter into making a difficult play (making the pass, getting it to the player, the player accepting the pass, getting the shot off, beating the goalie.) You have 1 step vs 5 steps.

There's no "primary if the pass gets across the D failed rule" - that's just not true at all. you're puling that outta your a$$.

- Brooks_Light

I'm not pulling anything out of anywhere. This is how it was taught to me and my Dmen through various levels of hockey and how it's still taught. Which is why I consider it a rule.

Pass is always on the Dman.

Yeah but in order to make that pass and find the back of the net - 4 extra steps need to happen successfully. Therefore, the odds increase significantly.
- Brooks_Light

I think the odds are relatively similar to be honest. There is a balance of mitigating the situation and making the right reads relative to the risk, but overall a clearer shot from a steeper angle, vs a one-time shot after lateral movement is probably close to similar.

Personally I prefer to let the goalie commit, challenge the shooter and cut down the angle, but its not black and white

I was taught the exact opposite throughout all levels of hockey so I guess there's more than one rule.

I think the kid did well and they didn't score. Good for him and Holtby

that's always been my understanding. dman makes sure to cut off the pass. goalie plays the shot. boiled down in the most simple terms; the dman's primary responsibility on a 2 on 1 is making sure the pass doesn't get across.

That is interesting. I always thought everyone was taught the same way.

Shocking eh?

Well I guess due to Loads infinite expertise that we've come to the definitive conclusion that Rathbones play on the 2 on 1 was, not the rule, overcommitment, goalies worst nightmare and defending that needs to be addressed. Poor kids career is over before it even started. Imagine they would've actually scored!!

Will Miller ask for a trade before or after draft day?

So bringing in a new GM also guarantees instant success? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

Maybe they got fired because they said the were going to rebuild and then spent $100million on Panarin et al.?

Agreed.

If he lets Macjesus skate uninterrupted towards Holtby itโ€™s literally a 90% chance he scores lol. They ended up with a fairly low danger scoring chance which Holtby easily stops. Iโ€™d say well done Jack

- CanuckDon

I'd let him go if he was skating towards Holby, there would have been no danger of scoring then... Holtby was on the bench

I'd trade him for the right piece.

More importantly, i'm really hoping for some clever trades with teams like TBL that are trying to tiptoe around the Kraken expansion draft.
