The NHL wanted to reach a wider audience. Their mission was to tone down the fighting and open up the scoring which they were doing successfully the season Sid came in. That was the season all these new enforcements by the league were put out. It was working, too. The NHL obviously won't ever be as big as Football or Baseball, but it was getting bigger. If they let this poop get out of hand it's going to regress fast.

It will be open season on guys like Matthews, McDavid, MacKinnon, etc..

No one is really sure. He did something to get suspended by the team and then now is on covid protocol for some reason. Rumors are is that he missed a mandatory covid test? No one knows.

Him and Samsonov missed/were VERY late to a team meeting and he got benched Monday. Now he’s in covid protocol (Tuesday). This isn’t the first couple of incidents with him and the team lately. You will hear his name start coming up in rumours this offseason watch and see.
