Friedman made some comments to the Pittsburgh press once picked off waivers by Hextall implying the Flyers mishandled him and that he was thrilled to be out of there.
They took exception to that and he has been targeted since.
So here's the thing and I promise this isn't Crosby-defense. Crosby was not punching his head the way Wilson did to Buch. He was holding his head down which obviously should be a penalty 10 out of 10 times, but it was also in response to Konecny putting him in a headlock holding him to the ice. When a player is doing something like that in a response, should it be handled the same way? If Sid did that without provocation I'd throw my hands up. That's a suspension, but he didn't. He retaliated.
In general I'm not believer in the retaliatory penalty call(depending on the severity of the retaliation) because I still remember the days when a player would retaliate, get called, but the player who initiated things didn't get jack poop. It never made sense.

That makes sense, because it seemed that way. Just wasn't sure until Ghost did what he did.
The NHL is no different than our society in general. Criminals are not being prosecuted and are released back into the general public. Criminals who riot loot and burn cities down are not prosecuted. In fact the ones arrested are bailed out by political leaders. So why would the NHL be any different. Make martyrs our of the thugs and the victims are now the bad guys. Our society is going mad so why should hockey show sanity? Who says crime does not pay. In reality it does. Just look around you and take the blinders off. Our society is STUPID and the is no cure for STUPID. Look in the mirror mates and you will see reality staring back at you.

Crosby too. - j.boyd919
It comes down to the league and officials. Players gonna do what they do haha. I'd have to watch the Wilson incident again to see if officials could have handled that better, however that just seemed to escalate very quickly. Whereas when Konecny was clearly holding Sid and the official was right there with plenty of time to just blow the play dead and it's over. Guys are gonna get mad and poops gonna happen if you don't blow the whistle early enough. Just like with Wilson there's multiple guys attacking him, what's he gonna do just stand there? But again I'll watch that again as I feel that was a situation where it happened very quickly.
E. Kane, Tom Wilson, and Marchand are the three players I would be embarrassed to have on my team. I don't care how good Wilson and Marchand are and what value Kane might have. I would be both ashamed and nauseous to see any of these players in a Penguins uniform. - PghPens668771
I’d take kane or Marchand in a heart beat. Kane isn’t worth 7m to me but Marchand hell yeah. Marchand doesn’t add any truculence though. He will just lick you or slew foot you. I haven’t noticed him in the headlines for stupid things for a little while though.. that being said I have a bad memory.
Zadorov would be good as a 3rd pair if paid a 3rd pair salary but I doubt that happens. Guddy I suppose.
As rino mentioned woods would be a great pickup. He’s not on par with reaves, guddy, Wilson but he def adds some grit and scoring.

Marchy might be the best winger in the league. If not, at least top 3.

I would definitely take Woods. My guess is that he is on NJ's "don't trade unless they give you an offer you can't refuse" list, though.

Yeah, I brought him up because it's obvious some of the Pens will be on the move after this season, but I doubt NJ moves him unless it's for a really solid close-to-ready asset.
All in all if they're hell-bent on bringing a Wilson-antidote, I'd grab a 4th liner on the cheap who can produce a little and they can rotate in and out as needed rather than someone who'd be stuck in the lineup every night.
I brought him up before, but someone like Lawson Crouse might be good. He's not a particularly good player, but he can produce probably around 15/20 points as a 4th liner and brings the truculence that Hex and Burke want. 6-4 220 and hits everything in sight.
I think it's easier to grab someone like him than finding a top-nine guy who's both good at hockey and brings the "truculent" game.

True. Just need enough skill to not get caved in. Sully doesn’t like using a 4th line anyways.
I think miles wood is the ideal type of player. Decent size and plays hard. Barclay goodrow and Blake Coleman would be a couple guys worth looking at. They are cheap and tampa paid a lot to get them so I’m sure they resign this year for very similar amounts but trying to add 1 or both of those 2 would be a nice get.
I think I’d take Marchand over most of them. Except maybe panarin. Less money than all. Greta defensively. Adds a whole other dimension of attack to our crappy pk. Can do it all. The others are all offence only. But panarin is just so good I’d have to take him if I could but $$$

I wasn't ranking by salary/value. Just who I think are the better players. Kane is a monster and plays on a crap team. I'm taking Panarin, Ovie and Kane 10 out of 10 times on my team over Marchand.
