Not sure if anyone watched the show Animal Kingdom, but Carter looks like one of the dudes from the show. I think he was only in first two seasons. Scott Speedman. - Rinosaur
Speedman is with us now! |

The Eric Staal or Jeff Carter debate is now firmly over I’d say!
I agree Pens definitely need MM back for a long run it’s definitely noticeable he’s gone. (Not a bad thing on Friedman)
I could be wrong cuz I haven’t looked lately but I don’t think Tanev can come back till playoffs for cap reasons. - pens4life-66
When was this a debate? I must have missed that one. I remember when we were debating Getzlaf and Staal before Staal got traded. |

Kind of wish we didn’t get the division punching bag for the end of the year games. |

I asked it in here after like 3-4 games after we got Carter. I think 2 people said Staal was better and 4 said Carter was better.
I said I liked Staal more before this season but watching Staal he first games with habs he looked stuck in his skates.
Liked Carter more seeing his speed, shot and being right handed |

I think Freddy has basically locked up a spot over Erod. Don't see how you take him out of the lineup. |

Grinder, and I mean this very respectfully, how are you a Pens fan? The Pens have never been a rough and tumble team, not even in the 70's... - Beatnic57

Agreed and I highly doubt they'd be breaking up this line. Freddy Hockey.

Agreed. I’m rooting for both of them but as long as they’re both ahead of skeevy and Jank I’m good. |

I was hoping the isles would keep it close so Boston has something to play for against the caps |

If the Pens win the last game, we need the caps to lose two in regulation. That's a tall order. |

Boston does. Home ice. They can still take 2nd.

Just need Philly to do us a solid. That could be a lot to ask for though |

I believe the last Bos-Wash there were a couple questionable hits by Washington. I’m sure the B’s have every intention of winning that game. |

Could they take first? I forgot they have 3 left |

A little bit of seperation between the Islanders and Bruins. The key could be that final game between Bruins/Capitals. Caps are 2 points back with 3 games left. So with one game left, we could max out at 77 points. Caps would then need 4/6 points to win the division (the first tiebreaker is regulation wins, we are currently tied so i'd assume if Washington wins 2 games, they'd be in regulation... but you never know).
So if the Capitals beat the Flyers in both games in regulation... they win the division regardless of what the Penguins do on Saturday.
Boston smacked the Rangers tonight, they play the Rangers/Islanders/Capitals. They have 3 games left and are 3 points behind the Islanders and 2 behind Washington, 4 behind us. If we win on Saturday, we will finish ahead of Boston because the max points Boston could get is 77 and we'd own the ROW tiebreaker.
Islanders losing tonight really hurt their chances. They'd need Boston to implode in order to get the third seed. So it really looks like they are locked down in #4. The only path would be them winning out against NJ and BOS and hoping Boston can only pick up 1 point in their last 3 games.
So based on all of this... really important for the Penguins to win the division now to avoid the Bruins. We need our friends in Philly to take at least one game from the Capitals and then Boston/Washington could be playing for the #2 seed in their final game.

Unlikely they could take #1, but its possible. Penguins would have to lose Saturday, Bruins would have to get 5/6 remaining points and Washington could only get 3/6 points or less. Regulation vs overtime wins would also play a role to settle any tiebreakers.
Only thing the Penguins can do now is win Saturday. If we win against Buffalo, we are promised to finish no worse than 2nd place. |

Not if they're tied with the Pens or Caps. I think Boston has less regulation wins. The Pens and caps would both have to not hit 77 points with Boston winning all their remaining games.
