if a player hits his head on the ice, everything should stop
and the last thing that should happen is a player who smashed a player's head on the ice should not go into the penalty box and act like he's Hulk Hogan - jimbro83

are we just going to write in hyperbole?
see how that kid died in the russian junior league? Ban lifters? - mr.peanut
You lost me at hyperbole.
You think no one will ever suffer suffer a life-changing injury because of what is happening?
Karine bringing up a re-think of the actual rules should be something to be considered. But you just say... meh. Awesome.

I don't know why the Rangers are complaining... Kreider crashed into like 5 goalies so far and still playing for the Rangers. |

Yes, but he did miss a bunch of games as a result of Wilson's cheap-shot.

League, NHLPA...they are all at fault here.
Fines, suspensions...they all go through the NHL and the NHLPA. That's why the maximum amount for a fine is 5000$. That's the amount the players and the players agreed on, so they are fine with it.
As long as both parties don't make changes, they will keep looking like a clown league. - stinger67
Someone posted that Wilson made more money sitting in the penalty box than the fine was. I'm too lazy to confirm this but it has a ring of truth to it.

I think the thing to do to both save face and placate the idea that the NHLPA doesn't want huge fines to destroy AHL/tweeners getting fined is just do a scale. If you make 12mil and get a fine, you should pay 500k or something. If you make 1mil and get a fine 10k. Something like that (obviously with more substantive percentages). Maybe add a multiplier on previous actions? |

On the empty net goal, after it was scored gave a cross check in the back a few feet out from the boards. Dangerous, dirty, unnecessary. He's got a meeting with DoPS. So a $5k fine probably. But greeeeeeeeasy - Takemedrunkimhome
he's probably just frustrated because he sucks. |

I agree completely. But end of the day Leafs v Habs gets me up more than Leafs v Oil. Leafs v Habs would be a massive dose of thrill of victory v agony of defeat. Those 7 gamers against the B's will seem like small potatoes by comparison - Takemedrunkimhome
being the team that gives Toronto its first series win since Paul Martin was premier of Canada and George Bush was in his first term... might be more than i can handle

Might work. Gotta be better than the token they pay now.
The NHLPA is as much at fault as the League. Refusing larger fines when their own players are hurt. And also bend over backward to defend the offender with appeals, but never seem to have the back of the victim. Why is that? Isn't the victim also a member of the NHLPA?

Ghost gets a hearing for a cross check, which I don't like what he did, but Wilson bounces a players head of the ice and has to give up a roll of Quarters. |

The change needs to hit wallets. Accidents happen, so I'm fine with $5k fines for those. Anything deemed non-intentional and during the course of play. Any safety infraction (not a scrum - we're talkin cheap shots etc) after the whistle that causes injury or any play where intent to injure is deemed should be $5k x10. Additional offenses is the previous fine x2 with a matching fine to the organization.
That'll get them in line real quick. |
