Just like Thornton after his criminal attack on Perrault. $3,000 here, $5,000 there; after a while these hardcore messages start to get through - Canada Cup
Thornton had to put his house up for sale to help the fine.

it is a one dose strategy. My second shot was automatically booked 4 months after my first - Canada Cup
Waste of doses really unless everybody in Canada / your region would have a 1st done by that time already.
It's a half-assed solution which as always is worst out of 3 options.. |

you realize governments had a year to plan for mass-vaccination plans, right? - MaximusAurelius
You realize Canada did not have access to all those vaccines a year ago, right?

1. The US is doing much better at vaccinating.
2. We have spent a year convincing ourselves that we are better than the US in every way when it comes to Covid.
A lot of people have a hard time reconciling these two things and have determined that something has gone catastrophically wrong for the US to be better than us. - Leafs43
The US has manufacturing facilities for vaccines. Canada does not.
Makes a big difference.

I understand plenty.
Can't give out vaccines you don't have. Approx 90% of the vaccines we have are already distributed.
Which part don't you understand?

Lots of countries without manufacturing capacity that are doing better than Canada.
Again, Canada bought 400million doses (not the most Solidary approach by the way) but very slow to roll out.
As for the vaccine manufacturing capacity, most of our countries (frank)ed that one up - privatizing vaccine manufacturing sites over the las 30-40years.
Obviously that will be partly reversed during the next few years.. |

That’s not correct.
The US and UK which pumped big $ into research are obviously at the front of the line when it comes getting their hands on vaccines. Why would it be any other way. A few smaller countries, notably Israel have also secured lots, maybe by paying a very high premium.
After that, Canada is among the leaders among vaccinations/100, ahead of pretty well all of Europe. |

Yeah. The feds and province have already started pumping money into the vaccine research labs at the U of S to set up a manufacturing facility there. Expect that will likely be expanded soon.

Except there is a company in Calgary who is threatening to leave Canada because the Feds refuse to answer questions or work with the company. The article i read said they weren't even asking for money. |

Okay.
oh well? This will be a publicly owned manufacturing facility. Like, a publicly funded facility at a public university, so... whatever?
