It's so franking long ago now, but my recollection of 1986 was that he was the only reason they won that cup. - Atomic Wedgie
Oilers losing to Calgary in the second round helped. But Roy was definitely a big factor in '86. He was the main reason why the Habs won the Cup in '93. Pens being eliminated by the Isles helped. |

Canada is somewhere between 8th and 12th or 13th in terms of vaccinations per 100. I’m not sure what the freak out is - Canada Cup

If they are going to go for former players who understand the game, then perhaps they need more of a committee than an individual. Get finesse guys, hard-nosed guys, goalies, and so on. Get different perspectives. One of the more frustrating things I hear are guys like Anthony Stewart saying what happened was fine, "because it used to be like that when I was in the AHL playing against Syracuse." Dude, that was 15 years ago. We are trying to improve the game and remove this idiocy. Justifying it because it happened to you is the same dumb-assed rhetoric my idiot relatives post on Facebook about how good it was when they were kids and didn't have to wear seatbelts or helmets; they also espouse the good old days when drinking and driving "wasn't so bad".
If the NHL REALLY wants progress, they need to change the rules of precedence, and change the way these situations are viewed. A dangerous play is a dangerous play and there should be consequences for them. If the NHL REALLY wants to show that they care about concussions and player safety, then this is exactly the type of thing they should be concerned with.
It's frustrating that they put people in charge who have a very distorted way of looking at things. - Monkeypunk
Craig Button said on leafs lunch that Wilson's actions were garbage not only because of what he did but also because it had nothing to do with hockey. It was after the play. None of that needed to be done.

1. The US is doing much better at vaccinating.
2. We have spent a year convincing ourselves that we are better than the US in every way when it comes to Covid.
A lot of people have a hard time reconciling these two things and have determined that something has gone catastrophically wrong for the US to be better than us. - Leafs43
I don't hear a lot of that complaint b/c I think people recognized early that our (Canada) issue was we were a "have not" in terms of making our own. At best we were going to have to throw $$ around to get to the top of the delivery list with every manufacturer. I think they did that for the most part. Selfishly my only beef was that the really big deliveries were always going to be a few weeks late. A handful of "have nots" were much better at getting big deliveries going in January and February as opposed to April and May.
The US and UK were always going to lead the way. We're neck n neck with Europe and they make their own so hard to dispute the results too much. |

Scott for Dops - Santo_44
First question for John Scott:
How many games would you have given John Scott for your chicken-poop attack on Phil Kessel during a mother franking exhibition game? |

The good news is when the virus has no place to go except the anti-vax population, the average IQ of the gene pool will begin to increase. - Zezel
Not to start a new concern but as a father I've thought about this at least theoretically.
In about 6-8 weeks the largest portion of our population to be without vaccination will be the kids (>15).
I keep waiting for somebody to ask Tam or Williams if we should be concerned about this at all. I know kids have been relatively "immune" but as this things mutates ????

But it’s about 2 min per pie in the oven when they’re cooking at 900 degrees. You get them ready and start popping them in. I cook two in the oven, one at a time |

This was exactly our experience.
We had a backyard party last summer (within the COVID rules - nobody call the police) and the poor woman spent her night making pizzas.
We're starting to get it down to a Henry Fordesque methodology. There's a lot of prep work you can do beforehand, so that your actual time away from guests is minimal.
The actual cooking time is 2-4 minutes. If you have them lined up and ready to cook, you won't finish your beer by the time 4 pies are done. |

You just contradicted yourself.
Canada, probably more than any other country in the world, went directly to a single dose program. If the evidence proves the single dose strategy is poop then we can kick the chair over. - The Law
I didn't contradict myself. There was no percentage on the one dosed people, only on Fully vaccinated for Canada.
It's a great choice to go for 1 dose (however I see all you guys commenting about getting 2nd doses?) |

I'm not on Twitter or social media so I'm probably out of touch with the level of freak.
I do like a little accountability though so lets keep some pressure on Anand to increase the deliveries. We know we're only at about 50-60% capacity the last 5 weeks and the faster we go the more lives we save.
Your old pal (I liked him - Brown?) ...he not so subtly recommended that we need/should be doing 500k per day. |

I don't blame Scott - at least not fully. I blame Carlyle. He literally told him he going to fight the next guy they lined him up with.
I don't blame Kessel for running away. I do blame him for swinging two handers like a female dog, though. |

The Isles knocking out the Penguins juggernaut in '93 was akin to Calgary knocking out Edmonton in '86. |

I would have given my shot to a young person in a heartbeat. Being retired I have no problem hibernating until my turn comes around.
But asking these kids to do it really isn’t fair. Do the LTC homes and then the young people IMO. |

Once the older generation and the 20-30s get vaccinated the little ones will have a lot more freedom.
if kids were vaccinated first they wouldn't get any more freedom than they have now. |
