McJesus is in McGod mode and Mike Smith is playing terrific hockey right now. Oilers are a legit threat and could be a nightmare to face in the playoffs. - mjones242
He really is in a tier by himself.
Even with Matthews having a great year scoring goals. McDavid is clearly a step above.

If we are on a collision course with Edmonton for the second round, I sure would like last line change for 4/7 games. - Atomic Wedgie
Yep, absolutely true. I think the Leafs will still win the division. 4 points (If Edmonton wins their game in hand) is still a good lead with 4 games left for each team.
Edmonton is going to have to win all of their games remaining to have a chance, and while they have a weak schedule, they are bound to lose 1 youd think. Even if this is the Leafs were talking about. |

Very true, but the Leafs are the only team in the division equiped to keep him in reasonable check. Mike Smith is having a good year for sure, well see if it can maintain through the playoffs.
McDavid is unreal, and could easily take over a series on his own however. |

Aside from one game, Habs did a pretty good job of keeping him in check.
Danault made him lose his cool a few times by being all over him.
I like our chances vs Edmonton to be honest.

Montreal and Edmonton play each other twice next week. Both in Montreal.
We need Montreal to take one of those. |

I'm willing to let the Habs finish third, as long as you promise to beat Edmonton, setting up Leafs vs. Habs in the 2nd round.
Deal? |

He is the best by a country mile.
It will be a complete failure and embarrassment for the Leafs to lose to any team in the North. The only way it happens is if our goaltending poops the bed again.
Montreal is the only team that scares me as I believe they are the only team in the North capable and willing to play a sound defensive system. Combine that with the possibility of spectacular goaltending and the Leafs will fold. |

I would love nothing more then to play Montreal in the playoffs. Would be fun to see. I agree, the Habs have the second best chance of containing McDavid in the division as their defense is awful like the Jets.

The good news is the Habs still have something to play for, so theyll be good matchups. The Leafs could just win a few games in it will all be irrelevant.

It wounded him Scabeh. It forced him to revisit his reality. He looked in to the abyss, and he saw Frederik Ander5en smiling back up at him.
He's not right now, just not right at all.

He has an existential crisis everyday he sees that the NYI are in a playoff spot.

Big game tonight: Winnipeg @ Calgary.
We need Winnipeg to win.
Then, if everything goes as expected (Edmonton beats Vancouver twice more this week, Montreal takes 1 point against Leafs in next two games or Winnipeg takes point against Ottawa on Saturday) then the Flames and Canucks will be officially eliminated by Saturday, and the playoffs can start earlier.
It will be franking maddening if the NHL delays the start of the playoffs for the North to watch Calgary play Vancouver three more times. |

More like 4-1 with Frolik in the lineup. |
