I'm enjoying the people arguing that Artemi Panarin who has 128 PIM in 433 GP had it coming from Tom Wilson who has been suspended for 105 games in only 565 GP.
Same type of logic that concludes a woman "had it coming" for wearing a low cut shirt when she becomes the victim of a guy with multiple prior rape convictions.

Yeah, the ban for life calls are dumb, too.
But, Wilson is far from in the right here. What exactly was Panarin doing? Trying to pull him off of another non-fighter type player. Normally, that would end up in the two guys bear hugging and everyone drifting apart. No, he has to attempt a significant injury to a guy about 70lbs lighter than him. There's simply no place for it. The fact that Panarin was lucky enough to escape serious injury won't help the next guy. - Tonybere
If you jump Wilson during a scrum that your team started by kicking his goalie on the eve of the playoffs that your team won't even be in, don't expect a bear hug followed by drifting apart.

Yeah, and the National wussy League couldn't even suspend Wilson for that much. Complete joke. Need a player to take one for the rest of the PA and just take him out.
Every other tough guy in the league would have tied up Panarin's hands and laughed at him, not tried extra hard to injure him. |

He’s the snowflake who would be calling for Wilson’s head if he did that to Eichel. - doon
Did Eichel jump on his back as well ? |

This is insanity, especially the comparison to rape, get a (frank)ing clue man.
Their prior records are irrelevant because Panarin chose to go take on Wilson so he had it coming by definition. Panarin jumped him. It's like the Ove/Svechnikov fight. Svechnikov absolutely had it coming from Ove, because he literally asked for it. |

This post is hilarious. You're telling someone to find another video and remove bias, then go on to describe something that didn't happen.
Go to Eks post, scroll to the bottom of the page and watch the full video. Wait til about the 1:00 minute mark where they replay the incident from behind the net lol. Wilson falls on him and CLEARLY punches him in the shoulder. Don't believe it? Pause the video and see where his right hand is? Hint...you see PB full helmet beside Wilson's right hand lol. From there, guys grab Wilson and Panarin is the one being the aggressor coming at Wilson....Seriously, why make stuff up? You don't have to like what ensued or like Wilson, but no need to fabricate what actually happened when it's clearly on video. Unless of course you're the one having trouble viewing things without bias? - Flyerfan2868
Hmmm, interesting...
No, I'll go with your blind, biased or dumb. What's CLEAR, is that Wilson has never gone easy on an opponent. It would not even occur to him to punch him in the shoulder instead of the head. One of the Twitter videos a few pages back had a good view of how he not only punches him in the back of the head, but he pulls up on the end of his stick, which is against the under side of Buch's neck, while he does it. Dangerous, and intentional.
Then we get to him grabbing a guy (who is around 70lbs lighter and not a fighter) by the hair so he can get extra leverage to body slam him head first on to the ice. Thankfully, he mostly missed, but the intention was evident. Dangerous and intentional.
If the league can't/won't find the balls to stop him, I hope someone requests a batch of wooden sticks and feeds them to him one by one. |

I guess the NHL is sending a message they're ready to go back to 1990's hockey where players could just run wild with no consequences. |

This is just a sad and pathetic comparison. If this is the way you view logic I feel for you. |

$5K seems kinda light. I expected 1-2 games. But I’ve watched the video a few times and I think the majority of people commenting here are (understandably) blinded by their hatred of Wilson. |

I'm not a Tom Wilson fan, but this is far from the worst thing he has done. A fine seems appropriate. Any other player wouldn't have gotten any supplemental discipline. |

I think we need to unpack the fact that the Rangers fan compares Panarin to a victimized woman wearing a low cut shirt.

Exactly right. Wilson didn't even hit the guy hard. Panarin hammered his own head when him and Wilson fell sideways. Then Wilson rag dolls him to wake his monkey ass up.
People just hate Wilson. |

Not sure how you can be blinded by grabbing a player by the hair and sending him to the ice is being blinded by any kind of hatred. Yes, I'm a Penguins fan and you can say that makes me biased but here are the facts:
1) He slammed Buch's head down the ice.
2) He hits Buch's head while he was down on the ice.
3) He pulled Panarin down to the ice by his hair allowing his head to hit the ice.
4) He continued to pummel Panarin
5) From the penalty box, he stood and flexed after.
There's nothing about any of those facts that can be spun by any sort of bias. There is no interpretation by what he did. It's clear as day. |

It was a scrum. Panarin grabbed the wrong guy. Got rag dolled...and Wilson didn’t throttle him. The $5000 fine is even un warranted....to fine a guy for that is ridiculous. For the most part these things don’t happen with regularity any more....that’s new in the last 25 years or so. But it’s still a rough game, a physical game were big guys sometimes beat up (in this case rag doll) smaller guys. |

LOL a $5 000 fine is just another example of the department of player safety is a joke and do not offer deterrents. Tom Wilson is Matt Cooke 2.0. He's had multi game bans for blatant hits and this is the latest escapade. Did Tom payoff DPS so he could have a clean slate or did he receive a get of jail free card for "good behaviour?" This is an absolute joke. Tom Wilson at a minimum should be suspended from the playoffs this year for his actions last night, but a fine... that will show him..... |

He didn't get fined for that.
The league specifically said it was for the roughing call against Buchnevich.
I get where the league is looking at video evidence vs. assumed intent. But, this is not a court of law. If they look at all that and don't see anything worth trying to somehow impact Wilson's ability to think his actions are ok, then we are headed toward someone being hurt much, much worse than this. |

No...actually Tom Wilson will depend himself and fight. Cooke was a weasel who looked to injure guys in vulnerable positions. |
