I can see your point with it not being a fight because he didn't drop his gloves or stick and that's fair, I would agree with you. But I would also point out that Wilson is quite a bit bigger and stronger, if he had of dropped his gloves and actually had a fight, he likely would do more damage.

I'd also argue that the reaction to a light punch on the shoulder and a tug on a jersey was over blown. All that needed to happen was a stoppage of the play (which it was being stopped anyways), Wilson and Buch would have both gotten up safely and Wilson likely would have gotten a penalty.

The part I am most ashamed of Wilson for is actually after, while he was in the box mocking the Rangers, That was the most uncalled for part about it.

If he gets suspended, it should be for that, simply for mocking the game.

With the shaft of his stick under Buch's neck, he intentionally slams his head down toward the ice with his whole upper body. And then punched him in the back of the head, not the shoulder, while simultaneously pulling up on the but of his stick.
That could have been way worse than it ended up. Same with pulling the hair of a guy who is about 70lbs lighter than him to get extra torque to slam him into the ice, not quite head first.
Should the fact that each of these guys got lucky and escaped serious injury excuse this piece of poop from facing justice for his reckless actions?

Are players supposed to stop trying before the whistle now? What Buch did was not legal, but happens 2-3 dozen times a game. Was Wilson's response anywhere near what happens every other time someone pokes at the goalie just as the refs blow the whistle?

I'm all for someone taking this guy out, so that he leaves on a stretcher and has to eat for a few weeks through the same tube he poops through. Whatever it takes at this point, as the NHL clearly won't stop him. He needs to be gone for good and that's what it's obviously gonna take so other players don't need to fear his cheap and criminal acts, and keep him from ending a players career soon. He's like a problem child with a loaded gun, eventually he's gonna shoot someone and a $5000 fine is just enabling the pinhead to elevate his thuggery on defenseless players.

Him and Panarin fell together, and Panarin bumped his own head on the ice.

But, Wilson is far from in the right here. What exactly was Panarin doing? Trying to pull him off of another non-fighter type player. Go to Eks post, scroll to the bottom of the page and watch the full video. Wait til about the 1:00 minute mark where they replay the incident from behind the net lol. Wilson falls on him and CLEARLY punches him in the shoulder. Don't believe it? Pause the video and see where his right hand is? Hint...you see PB full helmet beside Wilson's right hand lol. From there, guys grab Wilson and Panarin is the one being the aggressor coming at Wilson....Seriously, why make stuff up? You don't have to like what ensued or like Wilson, but no need to fabricate what actually happened when it's clearly on video.
