Their current roster pales in comparison with most of the teams they are playing. They played over their heads and got good goaltending for a stretch and now they aren't. It's just one or two mistakes a game that really hurt them, such as Bryson taking a nap in the last game. - Slump Buster
Growing pains from a very young roster. |

donnie meatballs loses next three before finishing the season with a meaningless in vs. pitt who was resting their player...
should he stay or should they move on from him? - Michael Pachla
Depends who the other options are. Can easily say they're giving him another year and move on if he falters. That being said, we should be interviewing established coaches and making offers. If established guys say no, I'll take Donnie over college coachs or soccer managers. |

Granato is not going to take a 1 year deal.
ALso hiring a coach for one year adn then moving on is terrible optics.
not to mention they have to get this one right.
They cant bring in another coach who fails to improve this team.
Granato is not historically bad, like Kreuger.
I honestly think if they had any other coach that wasn't Ralph who was fired, the push for Granato wouldnt be as high. |

Despite getting blown out twice by a good team against a team that averages 24 years old and like 22 on the back end, with no nhl goalies, I think Don's done an admirable job. He's really pushed the development of a lot of those guys. We're playing with what most teams would consider a bundle of middle 6 talent. Add in that they're all young and it's a recipe for... this.
He still deserves a seat at the interview table. He's doing his job out there. He's having whatever talent here playing a good brand of hockey. It's too bad the roster isn't remotely up to par. |

Players love ryan Miller.
The respect the La Kings showed after the game was one of a kind.
MAF (for okposo and a 7th) came out in his post game a said a bunch of nice things about miller.
The #'s might be comparable to other (non hof) guys, but I think cryin ryan is a lock. |

I think he's been out of the picture for so long that some people are also forgetting that we're playing w out the #1 C, too. |

It's definitely important to remember that the Sabres are playing precisely zero centers who have produced there at the NHL level. He's doing what he can with what little he has |

Haven't seen a player fall off a table this bad since Moulson. He's just spent. |

I agree with all of this, but what changes next year besides eichel that moves the needle?
Even if they hit free agency hard we've seen that this year and it's a major roll of the dice.
The only way any coach has success here is to get a legit starting goalie. Which seems easier said than done. |

guys before his era that are not in
barasso, vanbiesbrouck, moog, cuji, ozzy and vernon
so throw miller in that list of 14 goalies
then assume 4 or 5 at most get in
make the case why miller should be one of those

Its almost like being traded to a new team and then playing teh team that just traded you would give you more of a spark.
He is who he is a 4th line guy.
Yet Hall is looking great in Boston. Probably going to sign an extension
I'M about to say it.
It was an awful trade. - ImThatGuy
good talent in the 2nd round and hall Had full control Nothing you can do about it |

He isn't getting a head coaching job anywhere else. This would be us giving him more time to prove what he can do IF a more experienced coach isn't interested. Why would he say no to that opportunity? It's either that or leave the NHL again.

I don't think Moulson fell off of a table. He was slowly degrading and he finally got to the point where he wasn't an NHL player. I think we all saw it coming. I still think he could have scored 10 - 12 goals in the league - his lack of mobility killed him. |

We were all mad when Kahun wasn't retained - his stats for the year aren't much better, especially when you consider who he was playing with. |

I get that people are weary of re-signing McCabe, but the Sabres could really use him - or someone like him - who is actually good at defense. Between that, 2 NHL goalies and a healthy Eichel, they're not far off.
Sprinkle in a couple shrewd trades and I think they could be a pretty good team next year |

There's so much you can do to set this team up for success.
-Jack returns at 1C
-Remove players that damage your team. Eakin, Ristolainen, demote Bryson
-Free agents to beef up defense (McCabe and Hamilton cause (frank) it) and definitely a real goalie
-Consider a trade that uses one or two of our current forwards, and or some picks and prospects to find a young quality top 6 F
Removing Staal and Montour surprisingly helped this team. There's more you can do and it isn't astrophysics level of hard. |

The problem with McCabe is that we have our 3 LHDs in the system. If we got someone like him we wouldn't want anything more than a year. Also, he very well might not be ready at the start of next year. |

He was slowing, the writing was on the wall somewhat, so I get your point. But he literally went from 30, 31 and 36 goals in 2009-2011 to to never breaking 15 again in the next 8 seasons. After we resigned him, 13 goals was his max. I'd argue that's a pretty big fall from grace. |
