He won’t get any better sitting out. If he struggles, so be it. Not like losing a few more games does them any damage.

Again, unless they are injured, kids need to be playing. My D would be:

Provy-Ghost
Sanheim-Myers
Zamula-Hagg

And, if and when he’s available, put in York for Ghost. I might even go 7D vs the Isles and dress Morin in case things get nasty.

He practiced yesterday, and I believe he is a game time decision tonight. He hasn't been shut down for the season as of now.

Yup.

I wouldn’t worry about things getting nasty, either. You usually need self-respect or some heart to fight back. These guys just laid down and died.

50 games in a condensed schedule no one is healthy. Hayes based on performance a healthy scratch was long overdue. You can say that about 80% of the roster. Nearly everyone on this team has underachieved.
- PLindbergh31

Lets look at this in detail:

Vets over 25
Voracek (70 points+ pace), Giroux (66 point pace) , Couturier (75 point pace), JVR (50 point pace) and Hayes (45+ point pace) are all right around their recent career averages. Laughton is at a 32 point pace, worse than last year but in line with last 3 year average. Moose is 0.911 this season, exactly his career average.

Iotw, every veteran over 25 not named Braun had a year that is pretty much what you would expect and Braun's # are probably skewed because of the defense cluster(frank) and being shunted up and down the line up. In the eye test, it is not clear to me his season is worse than expected.

Young players under 25

In the mean time, every single player not named Farabee under 25 has had a poor season. And Farabee has 8 points in his last 25 games. So, the first part of his streak was possibly an anomaly.

It is somewhat inaccurate to say this is a team wide malaise. Performance is heavily correlated with age and experience.

Oh, his MCL isn’t as bad as initially thought? Cool.

Might as well let him make sure he’s set rather than pushing him out there with the walking dead

And this is why I think we need to just go young, try and rid yourselves of Jake and jvr. The young guys are not ready to compliment this team and make us a contender. The organization failed plain and simple. It’s time to restart, we have a crop of young guys that in 4-5 years can maybe get going .

At this point I would be more interested in just watching the youngsters play. AV should have just benched Hayes for the rest of the season. Let him sit on 499 games until October.

I agree completely.

Evaluate the kids.

Elliott is .892 this year. Way below his career average. The veterans points wise might be inline with their averages, but there is more than scoring. Defensively they have been terrible to say the least.

The young players have been a disappointment outside of Farabee's hot start. Basically the team is not as good as the sum of its parts. It's just a bad mix that needs changes.

No way the Flyers let Morin walk after all he's been through. They're a loyal organization. If they really gave up on Morin they wouldn't have tried him at wing. I bet he signs a one or two year deal in the summer.

The best they have looked is 6 on 5. Just start the game with the goalie pulled. Play pedal to the metal for the first 2 mins. Try to get at least 1 goal and hopefully not give up any.

Then put goalie back either way.

Repeat start of every period.

Have you guys ever seen more skewed combine stats (Milton Williams - Birds 3rd rounder)?

Sunk cost fallacy. If that’s how the Flyers are operating that is poor decision making. Morin simply can’t play. Cut him loose.

I liked the job Scott Gordon did when he was interim head coach for the Flyers after Hakstol was let go. The next time the Flyers are in a position of looking for a coach I’d hope he’d get a good long look.

But Hayes was injured last game. He wasn't a healthy scratch.

The latest and greatest cap anchor that can't be moved.

Let's see what they can do for an encore tonight. A 3 game losing streak to a team coming off a 10 game losing streak would be awesome.

- PLindbergh31

But we were told that he was an *almost* 60 pt a season center who played a 200 ft game. Some hailed fletcher as a genius for the trade and signing. Don't forget that time he stole the Aaron Rogers discount double-check move after scoring a goal, cementing himself as a legend in the annals of Philadelphia sports lore.

Right. Many are banged up. Most have underachieved. That’s a given.

You could choose just about any guy for either reason. Apparently Hayes was a little more dinged up than others, as he was the short straw.

Unless you’re saying the article is either trying to deceive us, or the Flyers we’re trying to deceive him

Don’t bet all of your Bitcoins on that one.

Loyalty? They’ve paid him 9M over the past 8 years. He has 1 more NHL goal than you do.

The most common mistake people always make, they based EVERYTHING off stats and not their actual play. Stats never tell the whole story. Someone has a 2 goal game...most say "They had a great game", but did they? Maybe one puck hits off their butt and goes in and the other the goalie plays it poorly, but the other part of the game their play is horrid defensively, maybe takes a bad penalty and is lackluster. Some fans look at the box score and say "What are you talking about they were the only one who showed up, they had 2 goals".
