Based on comments here you would think we were in for a 10 year rebuild

2006-2007 comes close, but I KNEW that team was bad from the start of that season.
- CupOnBroadSt.

They were no where near as talented as this team we have today so my expectations were low and accurate.. but this poop show is just unreal
I can't remember a more disappointing season than this one. The product on ice was unacceptable and they look like they didn't even try to win hockey games most nights

You mean you're still watching? Eagles the big dog in the city now. The soccer unions bigger among youngsters than the flyers

Even though I'm a Wild fan I must say Philly Is a solid team except for that very Important goaltending position, I'm guessing Fletcher will spend the summer addressing that major Issue.

well you know.. I suppose such pessimism would be understandable from a fanbase that has not already been mired in a 10 year rebuild. But us Flyers fans, we don't have that problem, because our team has just been killing it for the last decade. The last 10 years are littered with playoff success, deep runs towards the cup, and now here we are... literally just around the corner from finally hoisting Lord Stanley's trophy. The future is so bright, I gotta wear shades.

It has certainly been the biggest gap between preseason expectations and the actually reality of what played out. Grand Canyon

Maybe for you. Some of us (ahem) have been skeptical of this roster long before this year began.

To me, this is a downward blip but far from an outlandish one. The wins and losses were concentrated by months this season, but overall where the team will finish is pretty close to where I projected.

How is our friendly bet looking like 1 year in?

Why would the Flyers give away a first and lose the players you listed? Who would they be protecting at that point?

Given our recent history with first rounders, I'm kinda okay with it. Rubtsov? O'brien? Morin? (And wasn't Radcliffe a high second?)

There is ZERO way of turning over a team without shipping out contracts and paying the price.

Look at the Rangers getting Panarin. You need the cap space.

I think Seattle would take Jake with a sweetener. He's a legit first unit power play forward, a decent playmaker, a colorful personality, and if he's still any good in 2 years can bring something at the trade deadline. It's not like we have anyone good exposed. (Though I think they'd take Laughton if we exposed him.)

They missed on Surtain Jr., they might get Samuel Jr.

There is a reason why Smith was the 3rd receiver taken and fell to 12. There are some questions. Having said that, I am ok with Smith + 1st (which btw could be decently high).

Yo, @2Real!

There was a video you posted (in response to my post above) during the middle of last night of Devonta Smith catching a touchdown. I saw it briefly before I fell asleep.

Now your post and video is gone. But from what I remember:

1. The CB is playing scared and playing too far away. He allows Smith to make his cuts without any hindrance. That's gonna change in the NFL.
2. I think I saw OPI in the end zone. That's gonna be called in the NFL.

I have observed mommy hen and daddy rooster for many years now. I have seen generations of chicks spawned by them hatch and seen them contribute only to another teams soup.

My suggestion: turn to omelettes. You know what you have to do with those eggs.
