I am trying to figure out the expansion draft and hear lots of players the board feels the Kraken should take (rose glasses), but why wouldn't they take a guy like NAK instead of the bloated contracts we have? - JW98FlyerFan
There's just no way of knowing who they pick.
We like to assume they'll take the best player, or the most promising player, but they could also be looking for somebody they could flip further down the road, or somebody who fits a role on their team right away, like PEB did for Vegas.
Wouldn't be surprised if they took NAK. Or Hagg. Or JVR. Or just about anybody really. |

Why would the Flyers give away a first and lose the players you listed? Who would they be protecting at that point? - JW98FlyerFan
I was looking at the scenario from the perspective of the Kraken, not the Flyers.

Curious... “ BE A (frank)ING FLYER” is this season what A.V. meant? |

Man I did not see this season play out like this. Not at all. Majority same players who tore up the NHL last season became bottom feeders this season.
There has to be a bigger poop show in flyers history, right?!

2006-2007 comes close, but I KNEW that team was bad from the start of that season.

It has certainly been the biggest gap between preseason expectations and the actually reality of what played out. Grand Canyon

You could build a roster with the former flyers players that have one Stanley cups since leaving Philadelphia, including one head coach. We must be doing something right, right? - SuperSchennBros
Your scouts seem to hit nothing but home-runs. Always quality players in the system. No clue what happened to this club this season, but it safe to say everyone else should be concerned regarding their job security. |

Yeah. After last season, and almost making the conference finals, this was a hard gut punch to the fanbase. Just a major clusterpoop on the part of the organization, not upgrading significantly on defense. |

Yep. The results are pulling everything into question now. Top down. The list of things I have high confidence regarding have gotten smaller.

Weird, because they were considered a Cup contenders that year.
Maybe this sounds familiar... but all the young players stagnated (Carter, Richards, Pitkanen, Umberger), they had a blueline mix of kids and dinosaurs that couldn't keep the puck out of the net, the goaltending was absolutely horrible, and the UFA's brought in did jack poop (Kyle Calder).
And Footpa happened and Primeau got knocked out half a dozen games in. |
|
|
|
I better see some lineup changes tomorrow. They best not throw the G-Coots-Voracek line out there again for the rest of the season! Now they play only for each other, the future evaluations and their pride. Who has any left?
I hope the Flyers start Lyon 4 more games—the 2 remaining Devils games and split the back-to-backs with Elliott. |

I really can’t draw many parallels between that ‘06 season and this one.

i'll be so angry if his play is as bad next season. you can't sign that deal and be nonexistent after the first year. - Ftown19125
He was playing great before the COVID shutdown. Swore he was at or close to a point per game

I probably should not be but yes. I am looking forward to the offseason to get in a better mental state regarding the outlook for the coming seasons. I wish I could say I see a clear plan to move forward but this has been really rough.

Not all about points, he was still horrible. We were winning games pre Covid because we were scoring at a high rate, the terrible defense was still there. This team did not play good hockey all year. |

Playing short-handed is no way for an expansion team to survive.
