the whole "Tony D would have stood up for his teammates" thing when he fought his own teammate is a little tough to take - jimbro83
Especially considering Fox is having a Norris-level year with DeAngelo gone, but sure let's keep the guy around so he can get beat up by Wilson in a rare incident

Well he was well liked by just about all his teammates, not his fault Georgiev couldn't stop a beach ball early in the season.
It doesn't matter that he's gone but to say you're not sure what he would have done, etc he had some grit and some snarl to his game, and we lacked that Monday and still lack it today.

He didn’t throw a single punch. Georgie did and head butted him though, but let’s keep making TonyD out to be the bad guy. Tony told him keep the put out of the net and Georgie lost it.

What does Fox have to do with TonyD being on the 3rd pair instead of Hajek Jones or Johnson? Even Valiquette said it in the post game 2 days ago “cutting ties with a player early in the season likely cost them the playoffs”. You can’t argue we’re not a better team and likely a playoff team with TonyD.

Georgy is a backup goalie and Tony led NHL defenseman in points last year. I know you know more than our management, but don't you think that if the situation was as black and white as you say that Georgy would be the one that was gone? Guys fight their teammates seemingly every year (Bortuzzo and Smith come to mind) and don't get tossed from their team. It was said multiple times that this was the last straw for him. And before you throw out the PoLiTiCs argument, James Dolan is a major Republican donor so if a team is gonna cut guys for their right-wing views it won't be him.

BREAKING. Shocker. Rangers have fired John Davidson and Jeff Gorton, Post has learned. Chris Drury will remain with organization and will have prominent role.

No that’s factually what happened. ADA and Quinn/Gorton didn’t get along. Apparently there was some behind the scenes stuff with them going on and they used this as the “last straw”.

Tony D was the PP1 qb until he left. Fox was promoted and has shined and entered the Norris race. You really think he's a Norris candidate on PP2?
If the argument is that Fox would have taken over PP1 and Tony would've went to PP2, do you think a defensive liability 3rd pair D/2nd PP guy is pushing us into the playoffs?
I liked Tony and didn't wish him gone but thinking he would've made some huge difference is ridiculous. This team isn't missing offense from the backend and that's really all Tony provided, albeit well.
