I said there might be 2 centres that could be nhl ready.
The kid was fairly effective playing against men this season, albeit in only 13 games. He has nhl size, is a good skater, plays good positional hockey and is a 2 way player.

I wonder what the level of quality is like in the league these kids played in Europe are.

Brandt Clarke might be the first ever played drafted out of the Slovenian league. Same with McTavish being first drafted out of Swiss second tier.

Here is an article on Mason, I found this after you asked me that question.

Also, I believe Anze Kopitar was drafted out of the Slovenian league and at least 2 players from the Swiss B league, 1 being Dennis Malgin.

Kopitar was Swede u20.

Malgin forgot about him.

McTavish and Pinelli have that McMichael, Tomasino feel, kind of a toss up on who is better.

Hughes is "The Wreck of the Emund Fitzgerald" defensively. He will be a forward, or, out of the league in 2 years.

So you agree with me Hughes is a PP specialist/down a goal or 2 type of defenseman.đź‘Ť
- Reubenkincade

Expectations were high since Hughes really should have won the Calder over Makar.

I'm not worried about Hughes at all. With Offensive dmen come risks and rewards. Maybe it will take a new coach to get his plus-minus in order but we sure didn't hear a lot of complaints when people wanted Karlsson at 70+ points a year with all his defensive woes. Hughes will be fine. when you draft a Norris quality Dman it takes time to build around him.

Go with a Syrah, from anywhere but Australia. Syrah and bbq or smoked meat always pairs well.

Should start recommending white zin. Why would he get the benefit of your experience when all he does is complain...

I did all my whining in the Torts year and Booner set me straight. No point in going the #whinersguild now so you know what Vintsy...

TOI is not the indicator as PK and match up checking assignments may add more. Traditionally secondary scoring is what differentiates the 3rd from 4th. Plus the fact of how Canucks listed their line up with Gaudette at 3LC and Sutter 4LRW.

Your opinion that QH sucks based on +/- is interesting. I wonder how many GM's would want him on their roster...?

I am not sure what the solution is for the 3rd centre, which I consider 1 of the most important positions in the game., Sutter, Beagle, Gaudette, Boyd are not the answer and as much as I like Lind, I don't think he is the answer at centre as I think he is best as the right winger for Bo.
If the team uses their 1st round pick on a centre, I believe there might be 2 centres that could be nhl ready, for next season, Matt Beniers and Mason McTavish, which might solve that issue.
When it comes to Hughes, I will say again, the coaches are responsible for letting it get this ridiculous. You can't have a player running all over the ice and not actually playing the position he is supposed to.
I wouldn't be upset if they traded him, as I have no faith in Benning signing him to a contract that is in line with his actual play at both ends of the ice.

- Reubenkincade

Agreed 3LC is super important especially in PO scoring. Once Petey is back they could rock Miller - petey - Bo down the middle but it's not likely. Sutter is better suited for 4LC now but we have no one waiting in the wings to grab that 3LC position for next season. Might wanna come around to the fact that Sutter will probably start there next year as well. Benning has him as a core piece lol

Trading Hughes is not an option as is not trading Pettersson Bo Boeser blah blah blah. You don't move franchise players off great drafting at this point. Petey and Hughes may not be generational but they are franchise guys that will be here for awhile.

Hughes should have won the Calder over Makar, only in the minds of the delusional.
I think when some wanted Karlsson others clearly said no, as they did with PK Subban.
Believe me, I really hope Hughes does get his game in order, as his type of offense is needed, he just needs to be instructed much better on when and what is acceptable.
If he continues doing what he is doing, then it is time to move on.

I am not disagreeing about them not re-signing Sutter, as you say, they have no one waiting in the wings, unless of course Linus,Arvid or Focht knock it out of the park at training camp, which would put Sutter in a position that he is more suited for, on the 4th line.
I strongly believe that a lot of the problems would go away, if the coaching staff was replaced, including Hughes and most of his deficiencies.
So basically, I believe the biggest problem with this team, stems from coaching and the systems they have implemented.

Hughes did more on a lesser club with a way lesser supporting cast than Makar. Makar is a stud to be sure and also deserved but I would have given the edge to Hughes.

Which is a fair assessment. Personally I think no contract offer the Green after PO's he took as an insult. If he gave a sh!t al little more he could clean up some of the bad systems implemented. Toe me it appears that he doesn't want to be here at this point and even though Benning has placed faith in Green publicly there is something going on there.

I don't get hung up on when someone gets extended or not. How about Brindle Armour, I doubt he is pouting because he never got offered an extension, after turning that team into a pretty good team.

Ok, 12 points back, 12 games to go. Just have to go .500 and hope the Habs don’t get any more points. But seriously, they probably need 22 of the possible 24 points. Not looking good.

Also, for you fan boys, we are one point away from officially being unable to finish in the top 10. A Bos win or an NYI OTL and it’s over. Get your donations in if you haven’t done so already. No need to post your receipt, I trust you.

That means you too VANTEL you lurking SOB.

Edit - and LH... need 13 points to catch Dallas for 16th and 10 points to catch Philly for 19th. Pretty sure we’re going to be 25-28th instead of 16-19th

I think Brindle Armour would be a great coach for Canucks if he doesn't get resigned... pretty much exactly what they need

Leafs again huh?

Hughes should challenge Simmonds to a fight, that would really set the internet on fire.

Green with a masterful job, 3-1 Canucks in a punch up. MYERS with the hatty.

Oh well...injuries and the 28 day flu break year plus it's clear the players want extra days off instead of working like most millennials...what can you do? lol

So you're saying there's a chance for 19th...
