Hughes does suck.😁, but this team needs an offensive defenseman. I blame his problems on the coaching, for allowing him to continually make the same mistakes, with no consequences.
- Reubenkincade

While I agree Hughes Defensive lapses are part of the coaches problem he will be our Offensive Dman for years to come. The Petey injury did not help Hughes especially on the PP. Not worried at all. Before Petey was injured and all the flu crap Hughes PPg was excellent. His def ence will come around with the right build back there. Once Edler is gone round out the bottom pairings and see where it goes.

You need insight for the fact Gaudette beat out Sutter for the role and played in that position?

But hey he went stale since the padamic. Plus sh!t happens when you get married. Maybe his wife didn't like the isolation. Who knows. Wouldn't be first time a women affected performance. Either way his development plateaued and didn't progress as he should.

So you know the difference between takes and facts. You think Petey is pouting, BB should have been scratched for the playoffs and QH sucks as a player. That's opinion. Gaudette you had opinions on too but that didn't change the fact, at the time, he played as 3lc and provided secondary scoring. When that stopped so did his role as he had defensive deficiencies.

- NuckUp

Gaudette didn't play 3rd line centre, he may have played 4th line centre, as the Beagle or Sutter line was the 3rd line, as the TOI indicate.
In regards to Hughes, when a player has played 117 nhl games, which is less than 1.5 seasons and is a whopping-33, over that time, ya that is pretty horrendous. As I mentioned before, this kid is a valuable player for the team, as a PP specialist, but even that he has looked bad at this season.

I’m not saying he is a star. I’m saying I think he can play in the bottom 6 lol
- CanuckDon

So you want to protect Gadjovich, who might be a bottom 6 player, but were busting balls about protecting Motte...

Hughes has had a rough year. But it’s a (frank)ed up year and a joke. He seems a bit out of shape perhaps. But he showed enough defensively last year for me to believe he can still be a first pairing defensmen. His offence skills will outweigh his defsive flaws. But I see where you are coming from it’s been rough.

So you agree with me Hughes is a PP specialist/down a goal or 2 type of defenseman.👍

This team badly needs Hughes or someone like him to provide offense from the back end, I just have zero faith in this coaching staff and their systems to get him to be a better defender. The rover position just isn't workable with this group.

Also, with your wonder spelling, it was obvious you were high, but at least it was understandable, not like some posters comments.

Go with a Syrah, from anywhere but Australia. Syrah and bbq or smoked meat always pairs well.

TOI is not the indicator as PK and match up checking assignments may add more. Traditionally secondary scoring is what differentiates the 3rd from 4th. Plus the fact of how Canucks listed their line up with Gaudette at 3LC and Sutter 4LRW.

Your opinion that QH sucks based on +/- is interesting. I wonder how many GM's would want him on their roster...?

No, traditionally a 3rd line centre helps provide offense and kills penalties, as well as some line match ups. Also, TOI is an indicator of what line you are on, I doubt any team regularly plays their 4th line more than they play their 3rd line.

I am sure several GMs would like to have Quinn on their roster, especially the GMs that have a decent coaching staff.
I am also sure the Devils will try trade for him this off-season, once they pick Jack Hughes. I would be fine with that, as long as it involved Ty Smith and something else coming back

Well Beagle didn't provide offence to call him 3LC. Anyway you slice it the Canuck bottom 6 centers had huge flaws. Maybe the Petey/JTM/Bo center line up will change that.

So walking back the QH sucks take to trade value then is your preference not to have QH on the team. Guess Rathbone needs a look this season before making that call.

I am not sure what the solution is for the 3rd centre, which I consider 1 of the most important positions in the game., Sutter, Beagle, Gaudette, Boyd are not the answer and as much as I like Lind, I don't think he is the answer at centre as I think he is best as the right winger for Bo.
If the team uses their 1st round pick on a centre, I believe there might be 2 centres that could be nhl ready, for next season, Matt Beniers and Mason McTavish, which might solve that issue.
When it comes to Hughes, I will say again, the coaches are responsible for letting it get this ridiculous. You can't have a player running all over the ice and not actually playing the position he is supposed to.
I wouldn't be upset if they traded him, as I have no faith in Benning signing him to a contract that is in line with his actual play at both ends of the ice.

I said there might be 2 centres that could be nhl ready.
The kid was fairly effective playing against men this season, albeit in only 13 games. He has nhl size, is a good skater, plays good positional hockey and is a 2 way player.
