I love this team, I do. Half of this fan base I can really live without. You’ll see a large majority show Sympathy while Lindblom fights through cancer but Nolan Patrick who is younger, less experienced and has skated/played less than anyone on this squad the passed two years, no sympathy at all. They call him tinker bell, say he has no balls. Do you guys even think before you speak? Knowing what we know about Lindros’ career and you guys can allow yourselves to breathe these words. He’s 22. The guy took a puck to the head by Myers. There was no concern? A lot of you guys on here are trash!

If you truly love this team, then why don't you want them to win games? Its not that people don't have sympathy for any person, whether they be a professional athlete or not. Its about a professional hockey team winning games, its about getting the best players you can and putting them in the best position to win. This entire year Patrick has been healthy and playing 13 minutes a night and about 2+ minutes on the PP. This is his 3rd full season in the league. Its not unsympathetic to state what he is based on his actual play, and the results have not been good for him nor the team. Yes its bummer Patrick got hurt. Yes its a bummer that Patrick was a waste of the 2nd overall pick it the draft. But the bottom line is if you love a team, you want them to win, and the reality is Patrick is one of the reasons this team does not win that much!

Zamula looked pretty good. He actually led the team in ES icetime. 2mins more than Provy.
- Tomahawk

I posted it last night, Zamula is already the 2nd best defenseman on this team. He was poised with the puck, was in the right position, was physical, didn't turn the puck over and even got 3 shots on goal. Lets hope he keeps this up.

Phil Myers, apart from finally scoring his first goal of the season, had a particularly rough night in what's been a rough season. He got torched by defenseman Connor Carrick on the goal that made it a 4-3 lead for New Jersey after goals by Myers and Claude Giroux spaced 1:10 apart drew the Flyers even at 3-3.
- bmeltzer

Sorry, but the Connor Carrick goal was a team breakdown, not just Myers getting 'torched'. The puck leaves the zone, doesn't even get to the center line and three Flyers change behind the play... stupid.

Myers challenged at the blueline. He got beat by a well executed chip off the wall. It happens. There's got to be some help behind him and the goalie has to be counted on to make an NHL save. Carrick had no option but to shoot. No idea how Elliott got beat far side at that angle from a right shooter.

And for having a "rough" game, Myers was near 80% xGF. 15 scoring chances for on the ice, only 5 against. 8v3 in high danger chances. Far ahead in puck possession. Overall, a lot of positives for him.

That 5 Devils goal was a tribute to Special Olympics participants from Patrick and Moose. So do no not HYPERBOLE! Strange AV play Patrick at all. Take bad penalties, and is horrendous defensively. Offensively pretty grim to at the moment.

But hold on he was the second pick in the draft and he makes more money than you. He should just play better and everything would be ok. After all he is a professional athlete and not a human being.
- mickel25

Honestly, this is a ridiculous comment! Patrick has 9 points in 45 games! He is a MINUS 23! His average Corsi is under 48%! He has been given opportunities up and down the lineup! He has played over 2+ minutes a game on the PP! This is his 3rd NHL season! He was the number 2 pick in the draft!

THE KID CAN'T PLAY!

If you want a "feel good" story go watch "Miracle" or "Mystery, Alaska". The only feel good story I want to watch is the team that I LOVE actually fielding a team that can contend for a Stanley Cup and I dunno, maybe actually WIN IT!

I loved that he wanted to make the play, he didn’t just defer to his partner. His head was up ice and he was trying to get it up to the forwards.
- ClaudeFather

You can tell that he's coming from a winning environment. He was loose and confident under pressure.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Flyers are throwing the puck around like a hand grenade, flinching at ghosts.

He certainly didn’t have a good game, there’s 4 other guys on the ice with him. Advanced stats, especially in a vacuum really don’t mean much.

Yea he played his game, nice to see the confidence. How many times have we seen our defense go D to D to D, sick of that. Forwards not always giving great options but it’s sickening at times.

I get that the analytics say he had an ok game. Watching the game though leads you to a different conclusion. He is on the ice for almost every goal against it seems. While each goal is not his fault, his inability to read a play and make a proper decision is pretty apparent. I think he is capable of being better but he is not good right now.

My point exactly on that goal. 5 other guys if you count Brian Beachball Elliott.

I didn’t really have an issue with the goal, just in general I didn’t think he played well.

Have you ever seen an NHL team use the boards so much, in both the offensive and defensive zones, as much as the Flyers? Its so predictable, and you can see other team's players standing there ready to take the puck. The lack of creativity an poise on this team is just astonishing to me.

Weird, because I actually get that same feeling with Provorov. Last night he was on the ice for 4 GA.

It's a bunch of guys playing like they're trying not to make a mistake.

Allison and Zamula apparently didn't get the memo that they should be playing scared.

So to win the cup they should cast away the second overall pick that is 22 years old who has played less than 190 games? Patrick is working through a long term issue. I agree eventually a decision will need to be made. I do not agree that Patrick is a finished product at this point.

As a fan I hate that he is not lighting it up. But I also have patience.

You can metric me about Myers all you like, but what did your eyes tell you? They tell me that Myers is a complete disaster defensively. I watched fall down trying to defend plays last night. I watched him time and time again be out of position. I watched him shy away from contact on that Carrick goal; and good move or not, it is completely unacceptable for a professional defenseman of Myers size to let another defenseman blow right by him without even a touching him! In fact I watched Devils players blow by Myers several times last night. It was a not a positive game for him at all, other than Myers finally getting a shot through on net and scoring a goal.

Provorov is +1 and Myers is -13. The fact that any d-man on the Flyers is a plus is amazing to me.

Provorov also plays on the PK. The PK is awful.

Did your eyes notice all the times Braun/Provorov screwed up, too? Because they were a (frank)ing gong show last night.

Yes absolutely, Braun has looked awful IMO for almost the entire season. The D is a clown show on this team, no doubt about it. I would like to see Provey and Zamula play together the rest of the season and I would like Morin and Haag to play together as a 3rd pair also. The Flyers need a major overhaul on defense this off season. My only point is Myers is not the answer to our problems and is not improving from what I see with my own eyes.
